1 Events We would like to introduce you to our new Events Manager, Jennifer Caldwell, in her own words: I was born and raised here in Ventura County. Wouldn t want to live anywhere else! I LOVE to play softball and still play 3 days a week (even though my knees tell me to stop!) I have a wonderful husband, married 9 years now, and a beautifully vivacious daughter named Brooklyn who is 9. On the weekends, you can catch us riding the bike path in Camarillo or, with the way our family eats, at VONS stocking up on groceries! I feel so honored to be working at and with FOOD Share. As the child of a single mom, I know how hard she had to work to provide and I never take that for granted! FOOD Share engages in a variety of events to alleviate hunger such as festivals, food drives, farm dinners and more.to partner with FOOD Share on an event, please contact Jennifer at jcaldwell@foodshare.com or call x129. Happy Month of November/December! To be a volunteer, it takes... Generosity, a willingness to give your time to others Understanding, because their lives might be very different from your own Empathy, an ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes and feel what they must feel Compassion, to truly care about making someone else's life better Patience, because the process doesn't always go as smoothly as it might Dedication, to stick with the project and see it through You've shown these qualities and so much more, so thank you for all that you do. Dedicated Hearts Dedicated hearts like yours Are not so easy to find. It takes a special person to be So generous and kind.

2 Amgen To care so much for your fellow man Is a quality all too rare. Yet you give of your time and talents, For all in need to share. So thank you for being a volunteer, We're privileged to work with you. We want you to know how appreciated you are, Not just today, but the whole year through. Thank you Cleat Jerden for bringing in your team to help sort and pack pears for the SENIOR Share program! Tours If you are interested (or know of anyone or group interested) in touring your local food bank, FOOD Share, please contact our Volunteer Department to set up a date and time. We are flexible and are willing to accommodate your schedule (mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends). 4 th Annual CAN-tree Sincerely, Meg Horton & Christina Forino FOOD Share Volunteer Coordinators volunteer@foodshare.com Tele (805) FOOD Share, Inc. A Shout-Out of Thanks A great big thank-you goes out to all the wonderful volunteers who faithfully come in every week to help us with our mission, and to the following: The-A-Team, Rio Mesa High School Water Polo Team, Buena High School Water Polo Team, The Interact Club, The ARC of Ventura County, LDS-Simi Valley, Ventura, Camarillo and Oxnard churches, LDS Oxnard missionaries, Lion's Club Camarillo (Amber's Light), National Weather Service, Amgen, CGI, Good Sam, Monsanto, Rabo Bank, Barkley Insurance and Risk Management, Ventura Country Credit Union, YTC America, and Many Mansions. 3 Thank you to the one- to seven-year-olds pictured above. They donated 50 pounds of food to FOOD Share last week. Way to make a difference in your community! Feed the Children food distribution Thank you to the 293 volunteers who helped create the festive holiday magic at Parkview Court at the Collection in Oxnard. 302 beautifully decorated canned food trees were dressed up in themes reflecting the mission of each donor company or organization. 201,200 pounds of food were collected, making this the most successful CAN-tree year to date! Way to go Ventura County! United States Navy FOOD Share had the privilege to distribute food and personalcare items to nearly 400 families on Saturday, Dec. 19 th. Feed the Children provided 25-pound boxes of non-perishable food, 10-pound boxes of personal supplies, and 5-pound boxes of Avon products.

4 Thank you to the many hardworking volunteers who helped where needed and with a smile. It was a wonderful event! Gleaning News If you or anyone you know would like to donate fruit from your backyard trees, we have volunteers willing and able to pick the fruit. If you like the outdoors, you will love this volunteer opportunity! For further information please call our Gleaning Coordinator, Kyle Jorgensen, at ext. 138 or click on this link: FOOD Share Mission Statement Thank you to Michael Burley who arranged for our service men and women to come out and sort food getting it ready for distribution. Thank you for your service to FOOD Share and to our great country! FOOD Share is dedicated to feeding, nourishing and educating the hungry of Ventura County, educating the community on those who are hungry and why, and advocating a reduction of the root causes of hunger. Invite your friends or family members to volunteer with you! Please feel free to browse our volunteer webpage to see the different types of volunteer opportunities we have to offer and to sign up for them. Volunteer Stats Last month 414 volunteers contributed 2,325 hours of excellent service to help FOOD Share achieve our mission. We know there are many non-profits in our community that need help, and we are honored that you choose FOOD Share.
