He has been involved and dedicated to the Association for several years now. In his spare time he comes to events and activities and helps out where he is needed. He has sat on several committees for our programs & has brought knowledge and expertise to the table. The most recent event was the Art The DEC! He put in quite a bit of time and heart into the event and it definitely paid off! He helped gather items for the silent auction and raffle, helped plan and organize the event, and brought the whole community together! It would not have been such a success without him! He is a very dedicated, generous, and valuable supporter of AzSCIA. He truly cares about the disability community and wants to see individuals thriving in their lives. He is an amazing example of what it means to give back to the community & lend a hand where needed! A monthly update on the happenings and upcoming events in the Association and Community Partners. 2 Thank You! AzSCIA would like to thank all the participants who attended our Young Professionals Conference on November 22 nd! We had a great turn out! It was better than expected and it wouldn t have been possible without all of our attendees and the hard work of the volunteers! It was an educational, informative, and fun filled day! A special THANKS also goes out to all the vendors who were there to support AzSCIA & the attendees! We appreciate what you do for the community and us! An even bigger thank you to Dr. Susan Wolf, who was our instructor of record, and she also helped us plan and put on the conference as well too! She kept the day going and the group engaged and motivated! Without all the individuals and organizations involved we wouldn t have been able to put on such a great conference! Thank you to our consumer panel & roundtable panelists as well!!! Another successful event we had was the Tempe Festival of Lights Parade! We had 20 of our members show up, dressed up in holiday attire, and who rode or pushed with us in the parade! It was a huge success and I know everyone had a great time! We wouldn t have been able to do it without the help of the staff over at the Ability Center in Phoenix who decorated our van! Another big thank you to Jill from Driving to Independence! She was a huge help with this event as well too! We are extremely grateful to all of our members, consumers, community partners, students, and professionals who continue to support us day in and day out! 8 Arizona Spinal Cord Injury Association Transportation Services AZSCIA provides transportation to consumers 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. It is available for every need, from doctor s visits to going to the grocery store or just needing a ride to an outing with family & friends. Our drivers are well trained in defensive driving, wheelchair lift equipment, CPR, First Aid, and van operations. Our rates are extremely competitive and we will transport anywhere in the State and with adequate notice we can transport anywhere in the US. Family members and caregivers ride free with the consumer! We also have our vans available for lease or to rent! This works great if you have a big event, sports activity, or planning a trip out of town and need the space and accessibility! For further information contact Michael J.
