1 A Letter From Your Residence Manager Welcome Home to London Hall! My name is Jan and I will be your Residence Manager for the academic year. I m so excited to welcome you to your new home this year at Western University! My role as a Residence Manager is to support student life within the building. This includes wellness concerns, community issues, behavior management, social engagement, academic success, and leadership opportunities. None of this would be possible without the help of the dedicated student leaders living within Essex Hall: the Community Leaders and Residents Council, all are highly motivated individuals that work to provide you support, mentorship, social programming, and access to campus resources throughout your year at London Hall. I look forward to meeting you all in September and encourage you to stop by my office to say hello. Throughout the year you will see me attending building events, stopping by council programs, and during my office hours, feel free to say hello, introduce yourself, and tell me how your year is going! Can t wait till move-in day! All the best Jan Boomhouwer jboomhou@housing.uwo.ca
2 A Letter From Your Residents Council President Hello! My name is Madison Ing and I am the President of the London Hall Residents Council (LHRC). This is my second year living in London Hall and I am very excited to be your President. As the President, I am here to advocate your needs to Housing and ensure that the London Hall residents are heard. Me and my fellow executives are working hard to ensure that this year in London Hall is a great one for everyone! Council is a one of a kind experience and I encourage you to get involved! I am currently going into my first year of Ivey, and third year at Western. I was previously in the Don Wright Faculty of Music studying Popular Music. Last year I was a Building Ambassador on LHRC and I am the currently the USC Speaker of Council. As you can probably tell, I love music so reach out if you ever want to jam! A Letter From Your Residents Council VPP Hi there! I m Georgina Gifford and I m the Vice-President of Programming here at London Hall for the year. As VPP, I m responsible for overseeing all programming and ensuring that your experience here at London Hall is the best one possible. I have had experience as the Academic and Wellness Commissioner on this council for 2 years prior to this and am really dedicated to the London Hall community and all that it has to offer. I m in my fourth and final year pursuing a Double Major in Health Science and Social Justice and Peace Studies. And if you couldn t already tell from the little bit you already know about me, I am super passionate about individuals wellness and all things social justice related. Other than that, I love movie nights or catching up on whatever the latest TV show is, having a good laugh with friends, making my way to the gym (when I actually get around to it- calling all new gym buddies!), or getting myself out to the barn for a visit with my horse friends and a ride. Anyways, I look forward to meeting and getting to know you! If you have any ideas or suggestions for programming, or just want someone to chat to, don t hesitate to contact me!
3 A Letter From Your Residents Council VP Finance Hello there! My name is Cindy and I am the incoming Vice President Finance of the LHRC for the 2017 to 2018 school year. As your VPF, I m responsible for funding the events at London Hall in hopes of bringing you the best year possible! I am currently in second year pursuing an Honours Specialization in Finance. In my free time, I can usually be found on campus, at the gym, or in my room cooking and baking. I love learning and immersing myself in other cultures, and enjoy learning new languages. I m super excited for the year to come and can t wait to meet as many people as possible. If you have any questions about Council and the endless leadership opportunities available, feel free to shoot me an or drop by room during your spare time. Also don t be shy to reach out if you need a gym buddy, are feeling brave enough to eat my creations and want some free food, or just need someone to talk to. I hope that your year at London Hall will be a memorable experience! The London Hall Residents Executive team welcomes you to London Hall! If you have ever lived in a Western Residence before, you might be already familiar with what Rez Council does. If not, we are excited for you to find out more! The LHRC is dedicated to making your time in London Hall a memorable one. We will voice all of your concerns and needs, as well as create educational, exciting, and fun programs to keep you engaged throughout the year. Whether new to London Hall or returning, this year will be a year unlike any other. We are looking forward to having you join us this upcoming year, whether it will be at our events or as a member of our council. If you d like to help us make this an incredible year, here is a list of the various leadership positions that are available in London Hall with a brief outline of their responsibilities.
