1 President s Message Hello Members, Hope everyone is enjoying this crazy winter we are having. In this newsletter, you will find the program schedule for the rest of the year. There is still time to sign up for the April 20 th Lehigh Valley Chapter s 40 th Anniversary Celebration at the Hotel Bethlehem. I expect the May 30 th Iron Pigs game social to be open for registration by the end of next week. Still in the works is a possible full day training at Olympus (May 31 st ). Check out the Chapter s Website for registration information. Just a reminder that all CIA s are now required to have 2 CPE Hours of Ethics each year to maintain their certification. Our chapter will be holding an event on Ethics and Internal Audit and Outsourcing the Need for Supplier Audits on April 30 th. The local ACFE Chapter hosted Student Night this year, which was held on March 1 st at DeSales University. The speaker was Jian Xiao from Turning Point Solutions who presented on Ethics. Miss Xiao was very informative and gave the students lots of opportunity to participate in the discussion. We are always looking for more volunteers. Whether it s as an Officer, a Board member, or planning an event, we need your assistance in achieving this goal by becoming more active in the Chapter. Payment for all events is preferred at the time of registration. Breakfast and Dinner meetings may be paid at the door, but cancellations after registration period cannot be refunded. Payments for any other Chapter event must be made no later than the close of the registration period. If payment is not made by this time, then stand-by registrants will replace unpaid registrants as attendees. The Chapter incurs fixed costs when arranging a Chapter event, so any cancellation (paid or unpaid) after the close of the event registration cannot be refunded, nor applied to a future Chapter event. 2

Companies continue to look for ways to emphasize the importance of strong ethics, integrity, and proper conduct and seek strategies to embed processes within their organizational structure. Yet, incidents of bad behavior still occur. It is an ever-evolving phenomenon. Once we find the answer to address a specific issue, another question or problem arises. Ethics impacts every professional's job regardless of status, tenure, or selected profession. For internal auditors, ethics can become a very sensitive issue and political dilemma when attempting to execute their responsibilities and fiduciary duties. Internal auditors are often put in positions where they must make difficult and uncomfortable inquiries. It can appear to management as an attack on personal integrity or on personal morals and ethics. 5 Topic 2 OUTSOURCING AND THE NEED FOR SUPPLIER AUDITS EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This presentation will discuss the reasons why companies use third party suppliers, either as in an outsourced arrangement or in a true vendor arrangement, the risks involved and what audit should be doing. KEY HIGHLIGHTS: Understanding the risks from a security and privacy perspective Contract elements Minimum security requirements that should be put in contracts Supplier Audit techniques SPEAKER BIO John Gatto was with Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) in Chicago, IL from December, 2005 until his retirement in January, He was the Divisional Vice President, Audit Services and was responsible for all aspects of IT Audit for the five Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans comprising HCSC (Illinois, Texas, Montana, New Mexico and Oklahoma) and encompasses NAIC / MAR compliance and testing, risk based audits, advisory engagements for new development projects, coordination of SOC-1 and SOC-2 reviews and E&Y Year-End Financial Audits. John was a member of a number of Steering Committees within the IT area of HCSC. Prior to HCSC, John worked at Federal-Mogul in Michigan as the Sox coordination supervisor, Avery Dennison in California as a Project Manager, and spent 13 years with Horizon BlueCross BlueShield of New Jersey, where he was Director of Systems Audit, Customer Audit and Operations Audit. John has over 45 years of audit experience, most of it in the IT Audit arena. He is a CISA and CRISC and has his MBA from Fairleigh-Dickinson University in New Jersey. John is a frequent speaker for the BCBSA, IIA and ISACA organizations. In 2010 he was named Educator of the Year by the Chicago Chapter of the IIA. Since retiring, John has spoken at the 2016 and 2017 Texas State Auditor s Office Audit Conference, the 2014 ISACA CACS Conference and at the ISACA Chapters in South Carolina, North Carolina, Harrisburg PA, New Jersey, Minnesota, New Mexico, Austin, Baton Rouge, Portland and Central Florida. As well as IIA Chapters in Baton Rouge, Cincinnati, DC and St. Louis. 5

We are again offering a flat rate of $10 for members and their families, so take advantage of this great opportunity to come out to the ball park see a game and network and reconnect with others. We will also hold elections for our Officers, Board of Governors, and Committee Chairs. Please note our social will be in the PenTeleData Party Porch along the 3rd base line.
