Why we Ride In 2010, Jason Donaldson s mother was hit by a van while in a crosswalk. She sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI.) The only visible sign of the incident was a scratch on her elbow.

The only source of answers was the Brain Injury Alliance of Washington (BIAWA). BIAWA helped Jason understand what had happened.

He has used cycling to bring awareness to Brain Injury and the critical services that BIAWA provides. In 2013 and 2014 he raised $2,500 through a single day mountain bike race.

2 Why we Ride In 2010, Jason Donaldson s mother was hit by a van while in a crosswalk. She sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI.) The only visible sign of the incident was a scratch on her elbow. She passed away from the TBI four days after the accident. Jason struggled to understand what happened to his mother. He couldn t get the answers from doctors, nurses, or social workers. The only source of answers was the Brain Injury Alliance of Washington (BIAWA). BIAWA helped Jason understand what had happened. BIAWA connected him to a community that understood what he was going through. After Jason s mother passed away, cycling was his therapy. He has used cycling to bring awareness to Brain Injury and the critical services that BIAWA provides. In 2013 and 2014 he raised $2,500 through a single day mountain bike race. In 2015, he completed an 8 day solo bike ride across the state of Washington, raising over $3,500. In 2016, Jason joined forces with BIAWA and another fearless rider, Kathi, for Sea Over Summit, a 2-day bike ride from Redmond to Leavenworth. The duo raised almost $7,000 for BIAWA. Jason and BIAWA are pleased to invite the whole community to the 2017 Bolt the Tolt Charity Bike Ride. Join Jason on this ride and help raise funds and awareness for BIAWA and Brain Injury.
