WE HAVE DECIDED TO GO TO A BLACK & WHITE FORMAT FROM NOW ON. THE BULLETIN WILL FOCUS ON REPORTS FROM YOUR EXECUTIVE AND UPDATES FROM THE VARIOUS SERVICES THE BELLEVILLE GENERAL HOSPITAL PROVIDES. OUR AUXILIARY IS CONSTANTLY CHANGING AND ADDING SERVICES AND THESE WILL BE REPORTED IN THE BULLETIN. OUR HIGH 5 PUBLICATION WILL PROVIDE INFORMATION THAT IS CURRENT TO OUR MEMBERS. 2 PRESIDENT S REPORT DECEMBER, 2017 Merry Christmas to my fellow Auxiliary Members Our Christmas Bazaar is coming up Friday, December 1 st I hope all Auxiliary members can help out one way or another with this bazaar that includes volunteering for the bazaar day, baking, donating items for the bazaar, purchasing items at the bazaar every single action helps the Auxiliary. We need your help to keep all of our in-hospital services running. The retail services can only do so much, so volunteers Help Us Help Other is our 80 th anniversary Selma Bochnek and her convenors are busy organizing lots of special events for 2018, such as Bridge Tournament, Yard Sale, Appreciation Tea, Christmas Bazaar just to name a few events stay tuned for more information. Look for upcoming events in High 5, Auxiliary Bulletin and on the Bulletin board at the volunteer office. 80 years -- we should be so proud for what we do for patients, visitors and staff. It certainly is Time Well Spent. NOTE we are changing our general meetings to allow Auxiliary members to bring guests for the same price as the auxiliary members. We are hoping to get more volunteers out to meetings and that their guests see how great we are and would like to join our Auxiliary family. So get your tickets now for the December meeting featuring a guest choral group tickets are $5.00, available in the Volunteer Office, Gift Shop and at the Opportunity Shop. Reminder! 2018 memberships can be purchased at the Volunteer Office Monday thru Friday from 10 am to 2 pm. Please keep the data base up-to-date by ensuring your contact information is up to date. Visit Christmas in the Gift Shop - located on the 3 rd floor Hastings Wing. The staff have been busy getting the Gift Shop decorated for Christmas. HELPP Lottery needs a volunteer to fill the Tuesday shift from 12 noon 2 pm outside Tim Horton's. Training is provided. All monies raised from HELPP go to purchase small hospital equipment for BGH. Call Leah for more information. The Board is still looking for a 1 st Vice President. Auxiliary members are welcome to attend Board meetings to see what it is like - before you commit yourself. We meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month except July and August. Call me for more information I wish you and your family happiness and health for Warm Regards PS: Convenors remember to submit your nominees to Leah by November 30th for the Ontario Service Volunteer Awards - for the Awards Committee meeting on December 6th JOTS FROM JAY 2017 is coming to a close and it s been a great year for volunteer recruitment. Many of the services have a full roster of volunteers. I m happy to have the opportunity to check in with volunteers throughout the hospital and find that the satisfaction level is very high for the volunteers in their respective areas. I hear on a daily basis from staff the positive impact that the volunteers have. I want to express a special thank you to the Auxiliary for their financial support on several units throughout the hospital, specifically with Recreation Therapy. Most recently the Auxiliary agreed to assist with the purchase of items which will help reduce anxiety and increase stimulation for patients on Quinte 5. That financial support has such a huge impact on the quality of life of patients and improves the likelihood for a better outcome.

3 SHARON OSTMAN, Convenor LIBRARY CART SERVICE Sharon Ostman, Convenor During the Library Cart volunteers distributed 3,210 magazines and books throughout the hospital in patient rooms, waiting rooms, visitor areas and ICU. All areas of the hospital are visited on a weekly basis. Thank you to all who continue to donate books and magazines on a regular basis. A special thank you to Elizabeth and Joanne who continue to provide this worthwhile and long-standing service with a warm smile and a friendly face. Leah invited everyone to repeat the Prayer for Hospital Auxiliaries. PREVIOUS GENERAL MEETING MINUTES March 21, 2017 There were no errors or omissions. MOTION: Moved by Sandra Campbell and seconded by Cathy Willock that the minutes of March 21, 2017 be accepted. Carried. BUSINESS ARISING/PENDING FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES There was no business to report.

6 EXECUTIVE REPORTS PRESIDENT (Report attached) Leah Johnson reviewed her report which was published in the June Bulletin and thanked all volunteers for their outstanding work and hours of service which they have contributed to Belleville General Hospital. 2 nd VICE PRESIDENT Nancy Dafoe reported that the Yard Sale held on June 9 and 10 was a big success with over $1,400 being raised. She thanked everyone for donating items; the helpers and buyers; and those who set up and cleaned up. The members applauded Nancy and her committee for their hard work. PAST PRESIDENT & NOMINATING COMMITTEE CHAIR Jane Batey invited all members to step up and consider serving on the Board of Directors. The position of 1 st Vice President has been vacant for more than a year and more help is needed. TREASURER (Report attached) Maureen Hamilton reviewed the Financial Report which was circulated to the membership prior to the meeting. MOTION: Moved by Liz St. Pierre and seconded by Nancy Dafoe that the Treasurer s Financial Report of May 31, 2017 be accepted. Carried DIRECTOR, ADMINISTRATION Liz St. Pierre reported that the Volunteer Office is running smoothly. DIRECTOR, IN-HOSPITAL SERVICES (Report attached) Sharon Ostman congratulated the volunteers who are receiving service pins and special awards today. The Look Good, Feel Better program will be offered in July. She thanked Carroll Clements, a Cuddle Cap Knitter, for knitting over 3,000 caps in the past eight years. Sharon will inform the membership when a candidate for the $1,000 bursary is selected. She recently had the honour of escorting BGH nursing graduates of 1967 on their 50 th anniversary. The nurses appreciated the tour and made a donation to the Auxiliary. They also planted a tree and have a plaque opposite the Wellness Centre. Sharon wished everyone a wonderful, restful and enjoyable summer. DIRECTOR, RETAIL SERVICES (Reports attached) Angela Ford reviewed the Aroma Cafe report and explained that the.25 fee for each debit transaction has been discontinued, but the loss of revenue has been compensated by lower debit fee charges and a slight increase in food prices. A recent health inspection went well, but food best before dates will be strictly adhered to. Bernice Ryan was given a retirement tea and thanked for her years of as convenor of the Gift Shop. Angela announced that Cecilia Marisett is the new Gift Shop convenor. Also attached are reports from Cecilia Marisett, Gift Shop Convenor; Doreen Cook, Opportunity Shop Convenor; and Marilyn Case, Tuck Shop Convenor. MOTION TO ACCEPT ALL REPORTS MOTION: Moved by Sharon Ostman and seconded by Shirley Noble that all Directors Reports be accepted. Carried. NEW BUSINESS There was no new business to report. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Moved by Cecilia Marisett and seconded by Dan Willock at 11:55 a.m. that the meeting be adjourned. Carried.

7 Grace was said by Angela Ford, and the membership enjoyed a lovely lunch and strawberry social provided by the Greek Banquet Hall.
