1 MARCH 2017 Volume 9, Issue 3 President s Message By Barbara Fowler Another great painting time under the tutorage of our own Stephanie Pooler in dabbling in the water with koi fish. A bright and alive watercolor painting emerged and most of us finished our work before we left. That is truly a good feeling. The more I get the more I receive and one more watercolor for me to put into my home was my good feeling... In looking forward we are anticipating our 2 day seminar, March 25 and 26, with Mark Menendez. Again, the first day is the "Golden Iris" done in oils and the second is a prisma colored pencil piece of "The Cardinal." It's not too late to sign up and the form is in the back of our newsletter. Please send it to Stephanie Pooler as directed. We discussed this in our meeting last Saturday. Thanks to Michelle Mueller who told us they will always send you a paper one upon request. So I took it to heart and heard from them immediately. Just request from SDA 's newsletter with the card that you need it. Our meeting time for the chapter business is at 9 a.m. Our time for painting is at 10 a.m. for our regular painting times. Seminar days will start at 9 a.m. This past month we had a devastating fire ravage over 5,500 acres in Indian Lake Estates and River Ranch. Twelve homes were burnt to the ground and about 100 structures as well which could include cabins, etc. If anyone wants to donate needed items for these families, contact Care Center in Lake Wales at You can bring in items (Continued on Page 2) OUR MISSION CRDA s purpose is to teach, inspire, and share the creativity of decorative arts. Keep in mind to sell those raffle tickets for our quilt which will be raffled off on May 19th during our Daytona conference. If you know of any event we can get a booth to sell them, contact Vicki Alley please. She with the aid of Lynda Jeskey sold about $ two weeks ago at the art festival in Frostproof. If you need more tickets, please contact Vicki as well. :) As a reminder, we voted to change our yearly basket luncheon date and place to October 28th at the Cypress Gardens Mobile Home and RV Park at 1951 Lake Daisy Road, Winter Haven, Florida. The clubhouse where we have been monthly meeting will be decorated for the season and the food will be prepared by a gourmet chef--what more can you ask?! So--all of us will be diligently preparing for art projects for the repurposed basket luncheon that includes a silent auction and an auction where excitement flies! Again in case you missed this from last month: April's meeting will be full preparing for our May Conference in Daytona (May 17-20). We will be working on items to promote our chapter while there. Everyone--come on and enjoy doing and finishing projects as well. We also need donations of fabric, dominos, etc. May we hope many will register to go. It's right in our backyard in Daytona, Florida. We encourage you to register for our Society Conference. The excitement and fun enjoyed by all in learning new project techniques and making new friends as well as seeing the old ones, all here in sunny Florida. A beach delight with sea breezes and great food, may I add...and don't forget the shopping at the different booths. My own art-craft room is bulging now, but there's always room for more! Right?!!! :) May 27th is scheduled for our charity painting as well as sharing what we did at the conference. Looking ahead and anticipating great things for our chapter's involvement, please consider the many items of interest and participate. See you March 25th and 26th! Sincerely with the paintbrush in hand, Barbara Fowler President Ways and Means Table: Do you have some painting books or pattern packets you will probably never use? Or you have used them and won t be using them again? Bring them in for the Ways and Means table. And don t forget your birthday surprise for the table. Your birthday only comes once a year, bring something special, painting related and gift wrapped, for the Ways and Means table.
