1 Heritage Happenings Heritage Decorative Artists of Southeastern Michigan An Affiliated Chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters, Inc. The Westfield Center, 2700 June 2018 Volume 30 Number 4 President s Message A lovely summer greeting to everyone. Fall is just around the corner and we will be in the home stretch to get things ready for our fundraiser on October 13th. Please be sure to get your List of Guests to Pam and pay for your table in advance at the August meeting. Also all donated baskets for the raffle must have a list of items inside for Barb to display. All Silent Auction Pieces need to be turned into Charlene soon and let her know the name of the piece and it s size. All boutique items need to be priced for sale. I m sure there is a million other things that need to be buttoned-up before the big day arrives. Be sure to contact Barb to see what else she may need. I just wanted to give a special thank you to all of you and especially those in charge of the biggest items for our fundraiser. It is an overwhelming responsibility to take on and we need you to know that we are oh so thankful for all your hard work. Without our busy bees we wouldn t exist as a group. We are forever grateful! August will bring our annual picnic meeting. Be sure to check with Barb Popov to see what you can bring and ask Barb what kind of help she might need. Things are in the works for the learn to paint and 2019 paint seminars. Please know that further information will be coming our way as this year winds down. Hoping to see you all at the picnic and to sharing food and conversation with all my painting friends! Sandy 1

2 Memory Box Program This box is donated by Heritage Decorative A r t i s t s a n d h a n d p a i n t e d b y a decorative artist participating in the Memory Box Program. The Memory Box Program is a group of decorative artists who donate their time and money to paint boxes for grieving families. Each box is painted with great love and a sincere wish to reach out in support and understanding. As artists we hope that this box brings you some small comfort and the knowledge that many people understand that your child was special and very, very loved. We can get 500 cards printed from Avery for $35, which is less cost than purchasing card stock and ink. Tess Richardson motioned to purchase the cards from Avery and second by Janet Keathley. Motion passed. A poll was taken to see if there was enough interest in the Birch Trees and Flowers in alcohol ink. There were a good number of those interested. A date will be set for after the Colors of Fall. (Minutes continued on page 5) 4
