Differing ideas are what can bring about positive growth. Our Traditions keep us grounded, they have since These Service positions are vitally important, time and effort are required. The positions also require commitment, dedication and a willingness to do the work. 8 P a g e 8 Central Office Delegates Meeting Minutes at the North Oak Group March 11, 2018 Janet B., the Delegates Chair, opened the meeting at 12:30 pm. with a moment of silence followed by the Serenity Prayer. All present were reminded to turn off the volume on cellphones. Link S. gave the Secretary s report. The February minutes and corrections to the January minutes, were distributed to all Delegates via , and were available at the meeting. The February Minutes were approved without any corrections as shown below after these March meeting minutes. Art S. gave the s Report for February Total Income for February was $ 20,075.44, less Expenses of $15, leaving a net gain of $4, Derrick The Board Report for the February 2018 board meeting was given by Derrick. The IT representatives, High Touch Technologies, attended and gave a short history of the company. They pointed out that the company is employee owned. The board approved the recommendation of Teresa for three new board members to fill vacancies according to the bylaws. Those voted in by the board were Todd from the Downtown Basement Group, Tony from the Harrisonville Group, and Mike from the Paseo Group. Two of these positions will rotate off in 2019 and the other will rotate off in April Office Report Teresa, Central Office Director, gave the Office Report. Shelves are stocked, and the bills are paid. Sunflower Roundup was awesome. Financials for Sunflower are on the table. At this moment all s should go to themanager@aa-kc.org. The other addresses will be in operation soon. Delegates will be kept updated and informed. All information on the delegates sign in sheet needs to be updated and as complete, as possible. Ordering at Central Office is a full-time plus job as literature jumps off the shelf. There have been days with over 30 sales and that is good. There is a lot of foot traffic through the office. Volunteers are needed to carry the hotline from Tuesday afternoon to the following Tuesday morning a week long commitment. Hotline requirements are 1 year of sobriety and active work with a sponsor. The hotline receives call to Central Office whenever the Central Office is closed. Everything is going well. There are some growing pains. There will be a special board meeting today at 2pm to discuss the website and s. We are all blessed to be here. Delegates Meeting Chair - Janet s Report Doug is now on the board and, therefore, no longer eligible to be the alternate chair for the delegates meeting. Diane B. from the Blue Springs Group was elected to the alternate chair position. Old Business: None. New Business: Elections for three new board member s will take place at the next delegates meeting to be held on April 8, 2018, at the Primary Purpose Group. Three members of the board will rotate off, including Mike O., Doug H., and Bill B. Mike O. and Doug H. are eligible to serve new full positions as they came in to serve the remainder of vacant positions. When these three rotate off there will be 4 board members from Kansas and 4 board members from Missouri remaining on the board. Therefore, the new board members may come from either state. Board members are elected for a three-year term. The election rules were provided and read by Janet. There is a two-year sobriety requirement to be on the board. Nominations made at this 3/11/18 meeting include: Mike O. (Paseo Group); Dave K. (North KC Group); Ryan T. (Liberty Group); Janet B. (Lenexa Group); and Doug H. (Bonner Springs Group). Board members do not have to be delegates and additional nominations will be accepted at the April 8th election meeting. Nominations for officer positions include Bill B. (Primary Purpose) and Diane B. (Blue Springs Group) for Delegate Chair. There were no nominations for alternate chair. It was agreed that the Delegate Secretary should be able to type. There were no nominations and it was agreed that delegates should ask their groups for volunteers who might be secretary and ask those volunteers to attend the April 8, 2018 meeting and let it be known that they are willing to run for the Delegate Secretary position. There was discussion of our website development. The delegate from the Olathe Group asked that the new website be mobile friendly. Teresa said she would pass on that request. The cost of the website and s will be broken down into 12-months so we won t have to come up with the whole amount at one time. Delegates are interested in the compensation of the Central Office Director and other positions. This is a board responsibility and all are welcome to attend the board meeting to learn more about compensation.

9 P a g e 9 Group Reports: Mary (South Kansas City Group) brought the topic Their steering committee made a decision not to contribute to other AA entities until they became self-supporting. How does your group decide how to make contributions? Downtown Basement Group does not have steering committee. They take a group conscience vote. They try to maintain a prudent reserve of three months. Suggestion made to read The Group pamphlet. Paseo Group sends $50 per month to NY, Central Office and their district/area. They put $100 per month toward a prudent reserve. They treat their donations to AA entities as a bill that must be made each month, even if they are not able to donate to their prudent reserve. Blue Springs Group most decisions are made at their business meeting, but the delegate is not clear on how decisions on contributions are made. Alive Again bills are discussed at their monthly group meeting. Higginsville Group Any amount above their reserve is distributed to AA entities according to The Group pamphlet. North KC Group they have a steering committee that decides contributions according to the group s bylaws. South KC Group is doing well. Northeast Johnson County Group has a steering committee, but all financial decisions are brought before the group. Roe Center is doing well. Hope Group financial decisions made by group conscience. Primary Purpose all issues are discussed at their monthly business meeting. They have agreed to a set amount that is paid to AA entities every month just like a bill. Sobriety First Group financial decisions made during the monthly business meeting. Turner Group has a business meeting once each month. Shawnee Group hasn t made any contributions in a while. It seems like every time they have money to make contributions they have to move. 24/7 Group makes decisions according to group conscience. Wing and a Prayer does not make any contributions according to their bylaws when they are not meeting their group expenses. They will have their group anniversary next month. Englewood Winners is having a dance next weekend. The dance is on the Central Office calendar on the website. All financial decisions go before the group conscience. Unity on the Plaza Group anything over the prudent reserve is made according to GSO guidelines (the pamphlet). We Are One doing well. Chilithon was a success. Thanks to all who attended! Recovery Plus decisions made at their regular business meeting. Any extra money from an event is distributed to the AA entities. Liberty Group still struggling with their lease so they are not making much in the way of contributions until they know what is going on. The delegate believes the amount of contributions is set by the group. Bonner Springs Group they pass the basket twice from the 1st to the 7th of the month. The second basket is for the services and is distributed as such. Bill s Friends money matters are decided at the monthly business meeting. Honest Desire KCK prudent reserves are coming back after a few mishaps. They don t have a steering committee. Decisions are made by the group. Olathe Group a steering committee handles things like group anniversaries, and other special projects. Financial decisions are made at the monthly business meeting. The surplus, after expenses, is sent out to the AA entities. Harrisonville Group all money matters talked about in the business meeting. Simple Sobriety has a prudent reserve. Money decisions are made at the business meeting. Meeting agenda, minutes, etc. are all posted. Lenexa Group a potluck on April 14 to celebrate the birthday of the Big Book. They give Grapevine subscriptions to those who celebrate their first year of sobriety from the podium. Contributions to the AA entities is a group decision. The North Oak Group report was read by Janet of Lenexa Group as the delegate had to leave early. Art (NEJC Group) gave his thoughts on how his group spends money. It goes through the steering committee first and about 90% of ideas are approved. Then it goes through the whole group. Derek added ideas from his group (We Are One Group) they set a budget for some activities and then give the committee authority to spend, but for contributions it is a group conscience decision. They raised about $1,000 at their Chili-thon. They will have a Mother s Day event. Nuts and Bolts gives $100 every quarter to Central Office. Next meetings: April 8, 2018 (Elections) 10:00 a.m. at Primary Purpose Group, 3038 N. 52nd St., Kansas City, KS (Park at the elementary school across from group). The May meeting was set for the 13th at Bethel Group, but this date is Mother s Day. A new date, one week early or one week late, will be announced after consultation with the Bethel Group. Paseo Group will do June at 12:00pm. North KC will do August at 10:00am. The Annual picnic will be on July 8. Meeting adjourned at 2:13 p.m. Delegates 27 present. Board Members 9 present.
