1 Building Bridges Interdisciplinary Collaboration 29 th Annual Conference of the National Organization of Forensic Social Work April 15-18, 2012 Tremont Plaza Hotel & Grand Historic Venue Baltimore, Maryland

2 Conference Goal: Building Bridges Interdisciplinary Collaboration We aim to offer attendees a wide array of workshop choices including those addressing criminal and civil/family legal domains. General topics may include, but are certainly not limited to: * family or community mediation * mitigation in capital cases * jail/correctional setting services * risk management for service providers * restorative justice * legal and ethical issues in school, medical/health/hospice or occupational social work * child welfare (e.g. termination of parental rights, foster parent rights, custody, federal laws such as ASFA and MEPA-IEP) * guardianship, dependency and elder care issues It is the position of NOFSW that all social workers and associates of the social work profession can benefit from gaining an expanded knowledge of the impact of the law on research, policy, and practice. Who Should Attend? This conference is targeted to practicing Social Workers and related professionals who are working in any way related to legal issues and litigation, both criminal and civil. Social workers with little or no forensic practice experience, related professionals with little or no social work education and experience and students may find some of the sessions advanced but useful. Continuing Education: An application for CEU credit provider is pending with NASW-MD and each workshop will be awarded CEUs based on their criteria. Continuing education units (CEU s): 4 hours for Pre-Conference attendance and up to 15.5 hours for attendance in General Hours will be provided for conference attendees. General membership meetings and introductory sessions are not eligible for CEUs. Attendees are required to attend the full session, sign in for each session as well as complete and sign the evaluation form for each session they attend. Licensees should reference their state s continuing education requirements for specific requirements and restrictions. CEU certificates will be awarded and mailed to attendees within 30 days of the completion of the conference. Grievances must be submitted in writing to NOFSW s postal mail address or electronically to pbrady@ nofsw.org. All grievances will be reviewed by the NOFSW Social Worker Consultant and may be appealed to the NOFSW Executive Council. Hotel Accommodations: Tremont Plaza Hotel 222 St. Paul Place, Baltimore, Maryland The 2012 Annual Conference will be held in Baltimore April 15-18, 2012 at the Tremont Plaza Hotel.
