Criminal Justice Student Organization Meeting o Be a part of our student organization and participate in the semester planning for the CJSO. This is a great place to meet other students with similar interests. Topics of discussion will be service projects and field trips for the semester. Tuesday, September 12 th, 4:00-5:00, CPACS 222 o Official SCCJ Passport Event Donations for Harvey and Irma! The Criminal Justice Student Organization is collecting donations for police officers and families affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The following items are needed: men s and women s underwear, socks, hygiene products and new children s clothes for officers children. You can bring your donations to CPACS 218 or bring them to the first CJSO meeting. COMING SOON SAVE THE DATE! Student Celebration Day, VOLUNTEERS NEEDED, September 24 th, 1:00-3:30, Elmwood Park o This is a great community event sponsored by the Black Police Officers Association. The CJSO is recruiting volunteers to help with set-up and tear down. 2 News from the Clink UNO Career and Internship Fair CJ Employers will be there! o Dress up, bring copies of your resume, and meet with potential employers. The SCCJ Advisors will also be there to help you find the Crim/CJ employers and to provide you with various resources. Thursday, October 5 th, 11-3PM, Baxter Arena o Official SCCJ Passport Event Stop by the SCCJ Table for your signature INTERNSHIPS, SCHOLARSHIPS, ETC. 3 UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT OMAHA Criminal Justice Student Organization (CJSO) WHAT WE DO The Criminal Justice Student Organization (CJSO) provides students with opportunities to learn more about the criminal justice system, to network with other students and faculty and to interact with individuals who are directly involved with the criminal Justice system. CJSO also provides students with opportunities to hold leadership positions and to participate in service to their communities. The organization typically meets monthly and is open to any UNO undergraduate student. WHAT WE HAVE DONE RECENTLY Tours of the Federal Courthouse, Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility, etc. Speakers such as FBI, US Marshals, OPD, K-9 Unit, Attorneys, Prosecutors, Parole and Probation Officers. We have partnered with the Omaha Police Department Gang Unit to volunteer with them. This can be used for your volunteering hours, building connections, and potentially gaining an internship.
