Replacement of bulk feed ingredients: to cope with the huge amounts of wastes derived from food B. Valorisation of waste components into feed additives: to cope for animal needs and improve feed price

Broad portfolio of food derived waste with compositional and nutritional values EFFICACY VALIDATION on the performance, product quality, health and welfare of piglet and poultry EVALUATION OF THE TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC VIABILITY of NOSHAN processes and products by risk evaluation and technical barrier identification LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT (LCA) IMPLEMENTATION on food waste on a large scale system PRODUCTS OLIVE POMACE EXTRACT with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties BIOACTIVE PEPTIDES from rapeseed press cake with antioxidant properties OLIGOPECTINS from sugar beet pulp with prebiotic properties FEED PRODUCTS SUITABLE FOR PIGS AND POULTRY with inclusion of components derived from waste with a guarantee of safety which fulfill animal needs at low cost, energy demand and acceptable production rates for market needs

5 Obstacles and best-practice strategies OBSTACLES SOLUTIONS Delay in the collection and characterization of waste due to the seasonality of some of the wastes and unavailability. Extra waste quantities than initially expected were needed Necessity of adjustments to make the RWD fully operational Damage to the solid content extraction machine due to the presence of soil and stones Contact with different waste providers of different countries. Improve the design of the prototype through reengineering activities. Consider a change in the generation and collection of food waste
