1 The following is a simplified health program to help support the body in healing naturally. Please be advised that the lifestyle changes and supplements suggested are not intended to treat or cure any disease. Rather, they are meant to support the body s ability to heal itself. This program is for an ADULT. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18 please refer to the Product Age Recommendations in the Product Use Guide and consult with your health care provider for product recommendations and dosage. Condition Support Guide for Ulcers Peptic or gastric ulcers are holes or breaks in the protective lining of the duodenum (the upper part of the small intestine) or the stomach. Duodenal ulcers are more common than stomach ulcers. Esophageal ulcers, which form in the esophagus, are rare and often a result of alcohol abuse. An ulcer may result in pain, usually around meals, and may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting with blood, loss of appetite, bloating, and other symptoms. While excessive stomach acid secretion plays a role in the development of ulcers, research conducted since the mid-1980s has demonstrated that the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is present in more than 90% of duodenal ulcers and about 80% of stomach ulcers. However other factors, such as overuse of over-thecounter painkillers (such as aspirin and ibuprofen), heavy alcohol use, and smoking exacerbate and may promote the development of ulcers. Diet and lifestyle play an important role in repair, in addition to supporting supplements. Stress may cause an increase in stomach acid production, exacerbating symptoms. Below are recommendations to help your body achieve and maintain optimal health. Please seek the advice of a qualified medical professional before introducing any recommendations into your current regimen. If you take any medications or other supplements, ask your health care provider about possible interactions before taking any Genesis PURE products. Avoid drinking water during meals, other than to take digestive enzymes. If using distilled or reverse osmosis (RO) water, consider also using Cell Water, which helps transport nutrients, enzymes and proteins in to cells. Also aids in the removal of waste, helps maintain proper communication between cells, and empowers the body s natural healing processes.* + Probiotic Provides both pre and pro-biotics to promote healthy digestive flora and the healthy breakdown of proteins. Also supports toxin removal, relief from lactose intolerance and healthy immune function, targeting both the upper and lower GI tract.* + Support Products that are Recommended for this Condition: Recommended products are listed in order of importance, understanding what is least important on the list may become the most important for your unique situation. Mangosteen Mangosteen is a fruit that has been shown in clinical studies to support healthy prostaglandin and histamine levels in the body, thereby assisting in the control of inflammation. It has also been shown to be naturally anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, which may be especially important or those who have H. pylori.* + Recommended use: May opt to increase dose to 2 oz per 2-3x/day. Noni A powerful digestive bitter that supports digestion and nutrient assimilation.* + Recommended use: Take 1 oz immediately following each meal to aid in digestion. Silver Those with ulcers may have H. pylori in their body. 3 Food & Dietary Recommendations for this Condition: Never skip meals and avoid over eating. Eat a diet rich in fresh fruits (unless have Candidiasis or blood sugar issues), vegetables, whole grains, beans and legumes that are in season. Some fruits, like citrus, are acidic in nature (although alkalizing in the body) and may exacerbate symptoms. Best to avoid acidic fruits and consume sweet fruits instead. Bananas neutralize the hydrochloric acid in the stomach, reducing the painful symptoms of peptic ulcers. Some vegetables, while alkalizing, may be too harsh for the sensitive stomach of someone with ulcers. Cooking helps break down the vegetables, so that they are more digestible. Therefore, avoiding raw vegetable, especially lettuce, may be beneficial. Cabbage juice increases the amount of protective substances that line the intestine. A breakdown in the integrity of this lining is what causes most ulcers. Dr. Garnett Cheney from Stanford University's School of Medicine and other researchers performed several studies proving the benefits of fresh cabbage juice for ulcers. Eat plenty of quality protein and healthy fats from avocados, nut, seeds, eggs and healthy fish. Seafood Recommendations: Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water every day (more if you are cleansing). Water hydrates the body and helps to flush out toxins. You may want to add Genesis PURE Hydration to your regimen to increase electrolytes during the flushing of toxins. Avoid certain food combinations: Do not eat starches (grains, potatoes, cereals, corn, etc.) with proteins (fish, chicken, beef, eggs, nuts, seeds, etc.). Protein is digested by the body first and takes longer to digest. When consumed with carbohydrates, the carbs are set aside until the protein is digested, causing putrification. This is why beans cause gas beans are both a protein and carbohydrate. Digestive enzymes may help the body better digest protein and carb combinations. Limit dairy consumption, except for organic, plain yogurt or keifer. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, soda, sugar, artificial sweeteners (acesulfame K [ace-k], aspartame, saccharin and sucralose), preservatives (nitrates, nitrites and MSG), artificial colorings or flavorings and hydrogenated oil. Red meat (if permitted) and other animal products should be organic (in its natural form cows eat grass; not grain; chickens eat bugs, grubs and seeds). Natural, organic meat and poultry contain the proper balance of saturated and unsaturated fats (the good fats), are lower in calories, contain more nutrients, fill you up faster and contain CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), which is a potent defense against disease. Avoid pork, which is difficult to digest and can create toxins in the body. Never use vegetable or corn oil for cooking, as heating them creates toxins and inflammation. Avoid fried foods, which also create toxins in the body. Avoid spicy and acid-forming foods. Page 3 of 6 Rev 1.1

4 Learn what foods you may be sensitive to and avoid them. You can either do a professional blood allergy test (like ALCAT or ELISA/ACT) or try an Elimination Diet. ELIMINATION DIET: Eliminate all forms of wheat, dairy, corn, soy and eggs from your diet for 7 days. On day 8, reintroduce one of those eliminated foods (for example, wheat). Eat plenty of that food on that day and then wait 2 days and record any symptoms (ex: headaches, itching, dark eye circles, gas, bloating, intestinal discomfort, lethargy, ADD/ADHD symptoms or memory/concentration issues). If no symptoms are present, feel free to continue to eat the food and add in a second food using the same protocol. If symptoms are present, eliminate for 2 more days before reintroducing another food. Do the same until all foods have been reintroduced. If you suspect other foods, do the same experiment with those. Lifestyle Recommendations for this Condition: STRESS is a huge factor for most people suffering from ulcers. Please incorporate stress-reduction activities into your life and minimize negative stress. The following recommendations may be helpful: Get plenty of sleep (7-9 hours per night). A rested mind and body is more apt to cope with stress. Engage in at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity daily to help relieve stress. Vary your routine and incorporate strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular exercise to prevent overuse injuries and promote a balanced approach to physical activity, keeping in mind you should not overexercise. Use mindfulness activities like yoga, meditation, or gentle stretching to help reduce stress and tension. Research breathing techniques to use to help reduce stress and tension. If you smoke, quit. Most people who smoke do so to relieve stress. However, although a quick-fix, smoking creates long-term stress on the body and is counterproductive to the healing process. Chew food thoroughly this aids in digestion and nutrient absorption. Eat until satiated, but NOT full. This means you should neither feel hungry nor full; stop between the two. You should not feel pressure in your stomach region after eating. Pressure indicates you may have over-consumed or are not properly digesting. Do not eat after 9PM (the liver rests from 10PM-2AM). Additional Supplements for this Condition:* + Barberry, coptis, goldenseal, and Oregon graperoot all contain similar substances that destroy H. pylori. Choose one and take 500 milligram capsules three times daily. Do not use for periods longer than two weeks at a time and do not use if you are pregnant or have gallbladder disease. Specifically avoid goldenseal if you have glaucoma or cardiovascular disease.* + Page 4 of 6 Rev 1.1

5 Cat's claw also kills these bacteria and helps prevent another infection. Take 500 milligram three times daily. Do not use if you take insulin or are pregnant or nursing.* + Chamomile counteracts H. pylori and reduces inflammation. Drink one cup three times daily. Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) - Studies indicate DGL is effective only when chewed and mixed with saliva. It is generally ineffective in capsule form. DGL may promote the release of salivary compounds such as urogastrone or epithelial cell growth factors which stimulate the growth and regeneration of stomach and intestinal cells. The recommended daily dosage is two to four 380 mg. tablets -- chewed thoroughly -- between meals or 20 minutes before eating. This dosage should continue 8 to 16 weeks for optimum benefit.* + Digestive enzymes taken with food may aid in digestion and nutrient absorption.* + Drink fenugreek tea twice a day to protect the lining of the stomach and intestines. Fenugreek seeds, used in many natural remedies, are highly mucilaginous and will coat the stomach and intestines as they pass through your body, both preventing and soothing stomach ulcers. Boil one cup of water and remove from heat. Add 1 tsp. of fenugreek seeds, allowing to steep for 5 minutes before straining and drinking.* + Make an infusion of wood apple leaves to relieve pain and discomfort caused by stomach ulcers. Soak 15g of wood apple leaves in 250 ml of water overnight. The next morning, strain the leaves from the water and drink.* + Olive leaf is a potent antibacterial herb. Take 250 to 500 milligrams three times daily.* + Slippery elm bark has an abundance of mucilage that soothes the stomach and intestines and helps reduce inflammation. May be taken as a tea or in powdered form. * + Vitamins A and E have been shown to inhibit the development of stress ulcers in animals and are recognized as important factors in maintaining the integrity of the digestive tract lining.* + Make an infusion of wood apple leaves to relieve pain and discomfort caused by stomach ulcers. Soak 15g of wood apple leaves in 250 ml of water overnight. The next morning, strain the leaves from the water and drink.* + Zinc has also been shown in clinical trials to provide a protective effect against ulcers.* + Other herbs that may help soothe intestinal distress include American cranesbill (Geranium maculatum), marshmallow (Althaea officinalis), slippery elm (Ulmus fulva), okra (Hibiscus esculentus), echinacea or purple coneflower (Echinacea angustifolia), and goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis). Many of these plants have a high content of mucilage, which is very soothing to the mucous membranes, including those lining the gastrointestinal tract.* + It is recommended to seek care from a health practitioner who specializes in herbs and digestive disorders.
