2 In-depth Case-based Course on Spine Imaging on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 October 2018, at ULL, 33 Finsbury Square, London EC2A 1AG About the Course Course aim To provide Consultant Radiologists with a practical, stimulating and comprehensive update on in depth interpretation and reporting practice in spinal imaging: practical (workstation based learning); stimulating (interactive, challenging cases, immediate feedback); and comprehensive (covering a full range of spinal imaging topics). Target audience Consultants and Senior Trainees in Radiology, Spinal Surgery, Rheumatology, Emergency Medicine and Sports Medicine and those undertaking spinal intervention. CPD Credits This course provides 12 CPD credits in accordance with the CPD Scheme of the Royal College of Radiologists. Learning outcomes By the end of the course, the delegate will have: a comprehensive understanding of spinal pathology in both specialist and district general settings; improved skills in interpreting emergency spine pathology; a more in-depth understanding of both routine and complex chronic spine abnormalities; learned tips and tricks to avoid common misses and pick up on subtle abnormalities, particularly in relation to topics that are often inconsistently reported; a greater appreciation through collaborative discussion of issues relating to spinal intervention Course highlights Visiting lecturer from Boston Faculty of Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologists, Neuroradiologists and Spinal Surgeons who are experts in their fields and from different hospitals in the UK Interactive case-based approach on imac workstations to maximise learning, providing around100 cases for you to interpret, and giving you immediate feedback following each case Excellent peer interaction and collaborative learning with 2 delegates per imac workstation and a strict limit on the number of delegates Sessions In each session, the session lead: provides a brief introduction, including checklists and top-tips takes delegates working in pairs through a series of challenging cases, providing immediate feedback after each case and take-home messages at the end of the session.

4 In-depth Case-based Course on Spine Imaging on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 October 2018, at ULL, 33 Finsbury Square, London EC2A 1AG The Faculty A Faculty of established, practicing consultant radiologists, experts in their fields, with long and extensive experience in advancing the spine imaging interpretation and reporting skills of peers nationally and internationally. Dr Rowena Johnson undertook her radiology training at Imperial College Hospitals, London followed by two competitive, internationally recognised fellowships in Musculoskeletal Radiology, namely at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London, and Toronto, Canada. She has worked at several centres of excellence, including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore), giving her varied and comprehensive experience. She has experience in managing elite sports players, including working with the team covering the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games. Prior to radiology, Dr Johnson worked as a Clinical Editor for the British Medical Journal. Her current roles as the Editor of the Royal College of Radiologists Newsletter and Advisory Editor to the Clinical Radiology journal ensures she stays at the forefront of new research and developments in her field. She lectures nationally and internationally and has organised several successful ongoing teaching courses. Dr Rajat Chowdhury is a Consultant MSK Radiologist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. His clinical interests include the diagnosis and image-guided treatment of sports injuries, musculoskeletal conditions including orthopaedic and rheumatological disorders, spine, trauma, sarcoma and bone infection. Rajat read medicine at Oxford University, completed basic surgical training at St Mary s Hospital, Imperial College London, and clinical radiology training in Wessex. He completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London with advanced fellowship training at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford. His publications include lead author of 'Radiology at a Glance' and contribution to the forthcoming edition of 'Gray's Anatomy'. He was a NICE Scholar and awarded lifelong Fellowship of the British Institute of Radiology in He was appointed as Lead for MSK Trauma Imaging in Oxford in 2015 and Clinical Lecturer in Anatomy at The Queen's College, Oxford in Dr Matthew Maeder is an Assistant Professor at the Boston University Medical Center Department of Radiology. He earned an undergraduate degree in physics from the Ohio State University, where he researched interactions between light and matter using a femtosecond laser. He then went on to medical school at the University of Cincinnati, followed by radiology training at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. He is dual fellowship-trained in both Body MRI and Neuroradiology, both at the Dartmouth- Hitchcock Medical Center. His interests include diseases of the spinal canal and head and neck. Dr Maeder is experienced in a variety of spinal procedures including vertebroplasty, sacroplasty, facet joint synovial cyst rupture, and CT- or fluoroscopic-guided spine biopsy. He is currently on the faculty at Boston University specializing in Emergency and Neuroradiology. Dr Elizabeth Dick, MRCP, FRCR, MD, is a Consultant Radiologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College NHS Trust with expertise in Body MRI, Emergency, Trauma and MSK Radiology, subjects upon which she has published and lectured nationally and internationally. She completed a twoyear Fellowship in Body MRI, during which time she earned her doctoral degree. She has published several books and a CD Rom for training Radiologists, and taught on numerous UK postgraduate courses to medical and paramedical specialists. She is Immediate Past President of the British Society of Emergency Radiology and President Elect of the European Society of Emergency Radiology Dr Justin Lee specialises in all aspects of musculoskeletal imaging. He works as a radiologist for a number of individual sports professionals and players from Premier League and Championship football clubs, Premiership rugby clubs and professional cricket clubs. He also provides radiology services for Olympic Team GB and was part of the radiology team for the Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Dr Lee also works as a radiologist for the NFL International Series UK and the British and Irish Lions rugby squad. He is the author of three book chapters and has written for 42 PubMed publications in musculoskeletal imaging. He has also contributed to Gray s Anatomy. He has presented at national and international science research meetings on numerous occasions and has tutored on BMUS, UKRC MSK Ultrasound and Oxford Skills courses.

5 Dr Asif Saifuddin is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust in Stanmore. He earned his medical degree from The University of Manchester Medical School, undertook his radiology training in Leeds, and obtained a Fellowship of The Royal College of Radiologists. He is primarily interested in all aspects of musculoskeletal radiology, but in particular diagnostic and interventional imaging of musculoskeletal tumours. Dr Sachit Shah is a consultant in diagnostic neuroradiology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Queen Square. Dr Shah studied medicine at University College London, and undertook postgraduate training in medicine at Hammersmith and Guy s & St Thomas Hospitals, and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Following this, he trained in radiology at Imperial College Hospitals, before undertaking subspecialist training in neuroradiology on the Pan-London Neuroradiology Fellowship. In addition to wide ranging expertise including stroke, pituitary and dementia imaging, Dr Shah has a specialist interest in the imaging of peripheral nerve and muscle disorders. Dr Shah also holds an academic post at the UCL Institute of Neurology, and is a lecturer on the UCL Advanced Neuroimaging MSc programme. Dr David Wilson trained at King s College Hospital, London and the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals. His primary interest is in the application of modern imaging techniques to disorders of the locomotor system and spine intervention. He has undertaken original work in the application of diagnostic ultrasound to joint, muscle, and soft tissue disease with particular attention to joint effusion and congenital dysplasia of the hip. He has over 20 years of experience in vertebroplasty and is the author of publications on multicentre controlled trials on the treatment of insufficiency fractures. He has established innovative training courses in the UK in musculoskeletal ultrasound in Oxford and Bath. He teaches internationally and is a leader in the development of ultrasound in musculoskeletal disease and injection techniques in the spine. Mr Colin Nnadi was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in He completed training in Orthopaedic Surgery on the Wessex rotation UK. He was awarded the FRCS (Orth) in He undertook Spine fellowship training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore London and the Norfolk & Norwich University Teaching Hospital. He was locum Consultant Spine Surgeon at the Queen s Medical Centre, Nottingham before taking up his present post in Oxford. Mr Nnadi's research interests are in paediatric deformity. He is Chief investigator for the UK multi-centre Magec rods trial in Early Onset Scoliosis and UK Chief Investigator for the pan-european K-Spine study on Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. Mr Nnadi is on the assistant editorial board of the European Spine Journal and is an Associate Editor on the Editorial Board of the Spine Deformity Journal. He is a reviewer for the European Spine Journal (ESJ) and Bone and Joint Journal (BJJ). Dr Richard Hughes is a Consultant Radiologist at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury. He specialises in musculoskeletal and spinal imaging and image-guided treatments. Dr Hughes sees many recreational and elite athletes as part of his NHS and private practice. He has research interests in spinal injury and associated complications, has over 25 peer reviewed publications and has written a chapter on musculoskeletal interventions in the Oxford Handbook of Interventional Radiology. Richard is a regular presenter and lecturer at various regional, national and international meetings. Mr Dominique Rothenfluh is a Consultant Spine Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and a Senior Research Fellow at Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), University of Oxford. He graduated from University of Berne Medical School in Switzerland in 2001 and trained in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University Hospital in Berne and Uniklinik Balgrist, University of Zurich. He also obtained a PhD in Bioengineering and Biotechnology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology working on molecular technologies for cartilage regeneration, receiving the Outstanding Research by a Resident Award from the Society of Biomaterials (USA) in He trained in spinal surgery at Uniklinik Balgrist in Zurich and in complex spinal surgery at the Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and held Consultant positions in both places prior to being appointed in Oxford. His clinical research interests revolve around understanding the indications for specific spinal surgical procedures in order to optimise treatment and outcome.

6 Dr Gerardine Quaghebeur is a diagnostic neuroradiologist with a subspecialty interest in paediatric neuroradiology. She has been a full time neuroradiologist in the neuroradiology department in Oxford, now based at the, for 21 years. Following medical training in South Africa she completed postgraduate training in London - initially in surgery and neurosurgery; and subsequently neuroradiology. She has a major interest in teaching and has lectured on and organised numerous courses. She is a past member of the Royal College of Radiologists Professional Learning and Development committee; and is the current Chair of the BSNR Standards Committee.
