Preferred Contact Method Phone meodonnell@crc.ie How to Get Here Car Central Remedial Clinic / Scoil Mochua are located at the top of the Old Nangor Road (cul de sac) in Clondalkin. We are based in the same grounds as the Irish Association for Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus. All premises are surrounded by green fencing and the main entrance is on the right hand side. From M50, Red Cow Exit M50 North bound, go left onto Naas Road (N7) M50 South bound, go right onto Naas Road (N7) A. From Naas Road Inbound: Take left at Newland s Cross Outbound: Take Right at Newland s Cross Go straight along Fonthill Road (R113) (past Bewley s Hotel, Statoil Garage, St. John s Wood housing estate) until small roundabout then take left just after the pedestrian traffic lights. Go straight along Old Nangor Road (past Cherrywood, Old Church & Kilcarberry housing estates). [If you miss the left turn after the small roundabout ] continue on to the main roundabout and take left. Go straight along New Nangor Road. At the 3 rd set of lights take a left, then at T Junction take right and we are on the right hand side. B. From Naas Road (N7) Inbound: Take exit 2 off the N7 (You will see Maldron Hotel over to the right). Go left at roundabout, and straight through
2 the next 2 roundabouts (You are following the signs for Grange Castle). You will come upon a large junction / set of lights. You will be turning right (make sure you are in Right Lane). After this turn right, take a right at the next set of traffic lights (Cross Roads). At the end of this road take a right (up small lane) and we are on the right. Outbound: Take exit 2 off the N7. Go right at roundabout. and straight through the next 2 roundabouts (You are following the signs for Grange Castle). You will come upon a large junction / set of lights. You will be turning right (make sure you are in Right Lane). After this turn right, take a right at the next set of traffic lights (Cross Roads). At the end of this road take a right (up small lane) and we are on the right. From M50, Lucan Exit / N4 / Liffey Valley Exit Go straight along Fonthill Road (R113). Go over Grand Canal bridge. At Dunawley roundabout (after traffic lights) take right. At next roundabout take right onto New Nangor Road. Go straight along New Nangor Road. At the 3 rd set of lights take a left, then at T Junction take right and we are on the right hand side. Alternatively from M4 / N4 (From the West) (Kilcock, Maynooth, Leixlip, Lucan) Take exit 3 off the N4 (Ballyowen / Lucan exit) At top of the bridge go right. Go through all sets of traffic lights. (You will pass a Lidl Store / Penny Hill Pub on your left) Continue on until you come to a roundabout. Go straight through 3 roundabouts (at the 3 rd round about you will see Grange Castle Business Park over to your right). After the third roundabout you will come upon a set of lights. You will take a left here (stay in left lane). At the next traffic lights take a right, and right again at the end of the road (small laneway). We are up here on the right. Note: The Speed Limits change up and down on this road very quickly so be sure to be observant of them. From City Centre Follow road signs to either N7 (Naas Road) or N4 (Lucan Road) and copy directions as above. From Clondalkin Village (The Mill Shopping Centre) Take a right from Mill Shopping Centre Car Park (McDonald s exit).
3 Drive along Old Nangor Road. At T Junction can only go left. At small roundabout do U-Turn. Take left just after the pedestrian traffic lights. Go straight along Old Nangor Road (past Cherrywood, Old Church & Kilcarberry housing estates). We are straight up this road, up a small lane and on the right. Bus Luas/Dart 51c Aston Quay, (ask to be left at top of Old Nangor Rd) 210 From Dolphin s Barn 151 Docklands Station to Grangecastle N/A Working Hours Breaks 13:00 13:30 Uniform Policy Accommodation White polo shirt acceptable rather than tunic Navy trousers Wear easy slip on/off shoes as you will be taking them off regularly. 4 Clinical Information It is suggested that students familiarise themselves with the following pathologies, assessment procedures and treatment options prior to the beginning of placement. Students are expected to utilise the physiotherapy facilities available in preparation for all placements. Specialty Area Paediatrics Caseload: Students will be able to have their own small caseload throughout the placement usually ranging from 3 4 patients depending on your placement level. Clients are generally seen on a twice weekly basis. This is quite a practical / hands-on placement and you will be expected to work closely with the physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants and other members of the MDT in providing day to day physiotherapy treatment to clients especially in the school setting where you will be involved with the postural management programmes for the students e.g. standing frames, wedges, trikes, walks, group exercise programmes etc. Visit to CRC Gait Assessment Lab and other Therapy Departments Orthopaedic Clinics Day visit to acute Paediatric Hospital (where possible) Seating Assessment Conditions Seen Assessment Procedures Used Treatment Options MDT Opportunities Cerebral Palsy Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Acquired Head Injury Developmental Delay Intellectual Disability Muscular Dystrophy Neurodevelopmental & Functional Assessment Goal setting GAS: Goal Attainment Setting Orthotic Assessment Joint ROM - Goniometry Muscle Testing Manual Handling Communication skills and Multi-Disciplinary Working Implementation of exercise programmes including physical activity, HEPs, postural management Equipment and appliance use Orthotics You will be expected to work closely with the physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants and other members of the MDT in providing day to day physiotherapy treatment to clients.
