6 Sightseeing Information There is much to do and see while staying in Vancouver! We have put together a list of recommended places to see during your stay: Granville Island Nestled in the centre of Canada s most beautiful city is a breathtaking island oasis that will steal your heart and seduce your senses. This gathering spot for both locals and tourists draws 12 million visitors each year (71% of Granville Island s tourists are from outside of British Columbia). Sample the fresh, tantalizing offerings of the market and restaurants. Browse the unique items crafted by some of the best local talent. Watch these artists and craftspeople as they create. Take in a play or two at our theatres. Granville Island is an urban haven filled with fine restaurants, theatres, galleries and studios, and all things that are fresh: seafood, fruit, vegetables, plants, flowers, candy, fudge, breads and baked treats. Grouse Mountain, The Peak of Vancouver Panoramic views of the Lower Mainland unfold as the Skyride whisks you to the mountaintop. Adventures include the Refuge for Endangered Wildlife, lumberjack shows, scenic hiking trails, falconry demonstrations, helicopter tours, and much more. In the Peak Chalet, experience award-winning dining. Just 15 minutes from Downtown Vancouver. UBC Botanical Gardens The UBC Botanical Gardens are the oldest botanical garden at a university in Canada. The garden measures approximately 44 hectares (440,000 m² / 110 acres) and includes over 8000 different kinds of plants. Visitors to the garden should expect to spend a minimum of one hour exploring the garden. Gardens include an Asian garden, an alpine garden, a native plants garden, a food garden and a physic (medicinal) garden. UBC Museum of Anthropology The Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia is world-renowned for its collections of Northwest Coast artifacts, as well as ceramics and sculpture from the accomplished sculptor Bill Reid. It is also acclaimed for its spectacular architecture and unique setting on the cliffs of Point Grey. The Museum recently reopened after a major expansion and renovation. Vancouver Aquarium Come to face-to-fin with over 70,000 animals including beluga whales, Steller sea lions, dolphins, seals and more! Enjoy the dolphin and whale shows, sea otter feeds, and shark dives. Free-roaming animals abound in our popular Amazon Gallery and be sure to stop by our newest gallery that's full of interactive exhibits and a children's play learning area.
