5 Parkinson Outreach Programs: Menu of Programs Parkinson s Support Day Programs-These are support-group meetings that are held twice a month in two locations; Orlando and Longwood/Altamonte Springs and include support group s, educational presentations, music therapy, exercise classes and caregiver break-outs. YOPD Young Onset Parkinson s Disease support group is a group meeting for those who are 50 and under. Held monthly. Contact the POC for meeting details and check out the Facebook page: Parkinson Outreach Center YOPD chat. Movement as Medicine This is a class that incorporates various dance and movement forms to address balance, flexibility and spatial awareness with live musical accompaniment. Held twice a month. CHEER>UP Drama Therapy Group This is a group that uses drama techniques such as improv, humor, mime, and skits to address Parkinson s issues. Focuses on mood, movement and voice. For both PwP s and caregivers. Held once a month. C.O.P.E-Care Optimally Parkinson Education This programs prepares caregivers/ care partners of those newly diagnosed, or for those recently assuming the role of caregiver for the role of caregiver. Includes education, group and individual counseling related to caregiving concerns. Topics includes PD education, care planning at each stage, medication management/tools, stress and coping and more. Offered in different locations at different times contact the POC for additional information. Lake County Support Group Florida Hospital Waterman, offered once a month on the second Monday from 1:00-2:30. **All POC Programs are offered Free of Cost Other Parkinson s Wellness Programs: PWR! Exercises that utilize HIGH EFFORT for bigger and faster movements while directing your attention on how it feels to use your full movement potential. Emphasis is on optimal functioning. Offered at Florida Hospital Sports Medicine and Rehab, in several locations twice weekly. Call for additional info and fees Pedaling for Parkinson s This is a Parkinson s-specific indoor spin class on stationary spin bikes that offers high cadence cycling which has been proven in research to improve/impact motor function. Classes are 8 week sessions with the first session free. Held at Crosby Wellness Center in Winter Park. M-W-F. **All programs are subject to change. Melvin Weinstein Parkinson Foundation Website: MWPF.org-A not-for-profit organization that helps people with Parkinson s obtain equipment and other needs when one cannot afford it, in order to live safe and independently.
