2 WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL Government Arts and Science College, Kamareddy Nizamabad. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL (WEC) was established on 12/11/2011 under the Chairmanship of Dr G.Vidya Sagar,Principal-GDC Kamareddy. DrN.Lucy Sarojini was the Coordinator of WEC.- along with Mrs Fareen Fatima Lecturer and Mrs Uma Rani as Membes of WEC. From 8/11/2012 DrS.Anuradha became Coordinator of WEC after DrN.Lucy Sarojini got promotion as Principal and got transferred. Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) was started in the Collage from 08/10/2014 after receiving Proceedings from the Commissioner of Collegiate Education-Telangana. Every year Resolutions for the improvement of girl students at Kamareddy are conducted under the guidance of Chairmanship of Sri C.Prabhakar, Principal-GDC Kamareddy for the welfare of students.

3 AIMS and OBJECTIVES 1. To strengthen education rights, economic security and cultural opportunities to women students of this college. 2. To bring awareness on legal rights provided to women in the society. 3. Awareness on women rights in society. 4. Total awareness on social evils and measures to control them. 5. Health awareness. 6. To suggest ways to attain better economic and social status to women. ACTIVITIES 1. Celebrating Women s Equality Day on August 26 th every year; International Women Day on 8 th March. 2. Health camp for women students. 3. Seminar talks by women alumni for motivation. 4. Seminars by women to inspire the women students. 5. Encourage girls to participate in Youth festivals and Yuva Tarangs. 6. Conducting planting; clean and green programmes in the college. COUNSELLING FOR GIRL STUDENTS There is a special counseling cell in the college for women students to counsel on:- 1. Career 2. Health Problems 3. Personal Problems 4. Self-Employment 5. Personal Hygiene. ----etc.

4 WEC Activities for Smt Dr.Vasundhara Rani from Women s College Nizamabad was invited to give a seminar talk on Women s Rights and on Career Development on the occasion of Women s Equality Day. Rangoli and Mehandi competitions were conducted on this occasion and prizes were distributed. Rangoli Mehandi

5 WEC Activities for Three seminar talks were conducted by inviting women of various fields. 1. On 26 th August Smt M. Mangamma MPP President of Kamareddy gave a seminar talk on the role of women at home and at work. 2. Smt Shivaranjani, an alumni spoke on importance of education in Women s life. 3. Dr Sree Leela of Sai Simha Hospital gave a seminar talk on common health problems faced by women and assured them free consultation. 4. Dr Sree Leela also conducted free health checkup in the college. 5. Rangoli and mehendi competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed by the guests. Smt M. Mangamma MPP President

8 WEC Activities for Prof B. Vidya Vardhini Principal Science College-Telangana University was the Chief Guest on Women Equality Day, she presented a seminar on career development and about various PG courses available at T.U. 2. Smt P.Sushma, Municipal Chairman-First Citizen of Kamareddy was special invitee; she spoke about the role of women at home and at work place. 3. Smt Sunitha Municipal Councellor-Kamreddy was the Guest for the occasion. 4. The guest were kind enough to give prizes to the candidates selected for the cultural activities conducted. 5. Girls participated in the Yuva Tarang and Youth festival at District and State Level. Invitees
