Therapy Partners Eating Disrder Service Therapy Partners have been cmmissined by DGS & Swale CCGs t deliver a pilt fr the Eating Disrder service fr yur peple 14-25yrs. We ffer ne t ne, Peer supprt and Family Peer Supprt. We are seeing referrals fr sme as yung as 10 years and als higher numbers than befre fr yung males, which is nt traditinal fr eating disrders. Prtcls based n Fairburn Enhanced CBT fr Eating Disrder ffer up t 20 sessins depending n need. This lks at eating restraint and restrictin i.e. hw they eat and if there is a list f fds t avid. Lts f yung wmen are turning vegan t hide what and when they can eat, including fd clurs r rder they eat them. We identify triggers, cnsequences, beliefs behind it, e.g. feeling wrthless etc. We incrprate the Prf. Janet Treasure family mdel and als deliver 1

2 educatin seminars in schls. If yu knw anyne wh might benefit frm this please refer nw as this is time limited. See leaflet here Questins/cmments Q: D peple generally take up the 20 sessins? Respnse: The 20 sessins were available at the start f the prject but it wuld be dwn t 15 nw as we are nearing the end f the pilt. We meet twice weekly fr first fur weeks t build trust and mnitr eating habits. Q: D yu refer t ther therapies? Yes but nt at the beginning. Initially the fcus is n eating r nt eating. Thinking becmes restricted when brain shrinks thrugh fd avidance. Eventually we lk at ther areas t enhance lifestyle. Q: What is the eligibility criteria? Respnse: We dn t accept anyne with a BMI under 15. The lwest s far has been We want t catch peple befre they get t that stage and this is where the early interventin is needed. Q: D yu get lts f referrals frm prfessinals? Respnse: N, mstly frm parents r self-referral as they have nt reached crisis stage yet and unlikely t have made cntact with prfessinals, Q : What happens after treatment? Respnse: They mve nt the peer supprt grups. Q: Where are yu based? Respnse: We are very flexible and d hme visits, GP surgeries r wherever is needed. We als have a rm at the Riverside Cmmunity Centre in Gravesend. 3. Actin Pints (a) frm last meeting: 1. Frward cmments n KMPT Patient Survey t Nick Dent fr cmment. Cmpleted. Respnses cntained in bdy f last minutes. 2. Ask CCG where 20 beds fr eating disrders will be lcated. Respnse frm Carline Ptter-Edwards: Natinal Health Service England (NHSE) are the cmmissiners fr Tier 4 beds. CCGs have been meeting with NHSE cmmissiners t lk at ur pathways fr eating disrders and have been infrmed by NHSE that they will be cmmissining at least 8 and may be as high as 20 CAMHS Eating Disrder Service beds in the Suth East (Kent, Surrey and Sussex). They culd nt cnfirm where these wuld be lcated r whether they will be in ne site. We hpe t get mre infrmatin n these sn. 3. Ask CCG hw they arrived at the 10% target fr suicide reductin by Respnse frm Carline Ptter-Edwards: This is a natinal target as set ut in The Five Year Frward View (5YFV) which states: The Five Year Frward View fr Mental Health called fr the Department f Health, Public Health England and NHS England t supprt all lcal areas t have multi-agency suicide preventin plans in place as part f majr drive t reduce suicides in England by 10 per cent by 2020/ Ask CCG why the target is 2021 fr implementatin f the Cre 24 Mdel fr liaisn psychiatry. Respnse frm Carline Ptter-Edwards: Again, this is a natinal target frm the 5YFV fr mental health which states: By 2020/21, all acute hspitals will have all-age mental health liaisn teams in place, and at least 50% f these will meet the Cre 24 service standard as a minimum. Funding is released in waves by NHSE and DGS will re-apply in the autumn fr next wave f funding in 2018/19. 2

3 (b) Raised at the Cunty MHAG: N questins were brught frward frm any f the 8 lcal MHAGs. This is the first time this has happened and is a psitive indicatin that lcal cmmissiners are respnding prmptly. 4. Service User & Carer Questins a) Questin raised at tday s pre-meeting: 1. Vince raised a questin abut accessing IAPT. Jenny will meet Vince t discuss after the meeting tday. 5. Infrmatin Sharing: 1. Cunty Update: Please refer t the Cunty draft minutes fr full details f discussin n the Live It Well website n this link Extract frm cunty minutes: The Terms f Reference were well received and cnsidered t be a gd starting pint t review the MHAGs and will be lked at again. KCC intends t have sme wrkshps t invite everyne t cntribute t hw the MHAGs shuld lk ging frward. The wrkshps may take place instead f the July meetings. We d nt yet knw if the wrkshps will be lcality based r if they will include all lcalities tgether. Infrmatin will be circulated in due curse. 2. Cmmissiners Reprts: All reprts have been circulated and can be fund n this link n the Live It Well website: Live Well Kent End f Year Reprt Teresa Snwden: Additinal cmments n the reprt: Referrals were high but included thse transferring acrss frm ther prviders where they were already receiving a service. Thse nt returning t use service means they are new referrals. There is a small service t help with husing needs but there is a vacancy at the mment fr this lcality. 15% f referrals were fr preventative supprt. Successes we respnded well t the high demand and this is nw levelling ut. Recgnise that peer supprt helps peple maintain being well and recvery. Innvatin fund had gd prjects: Limelight Prject is a drama grup set up by Nrth Kent Mind and is pen t anyne. This includes the stages f prductin etc. They will be perfrming a shrt play at end f June. Fairfield Leisure prject is a 12 week, ne t ne prgramme fr exercise and activities. This has been very psitive and the grup were meeting up independently within tw weeks. Walk Tall is aimed at yunger peple wh will be staging a published play in schls and clleges in June with wrkshps t raise mental health awareness. Nrth West Kent Cuntryside Partnership - Eclgy Island is a frmer bwls club renvated t prvide pen grassed area/wdland/stream/giant tree huse, fr utdr skills grups. There will be an pen day celebratin arund mid-july. 3

4 Questins raised n reprt: Q: Is start date June n target fr Payment by Results (PBR)? Respnse: All rganisatins are aware f the start date and we are cmmunicating with them. Imprvements have been made t ensure that all delivery partners are using the same data sets and utcmes. Q: Is it pssible that sme rganisatins pick and chse wh t accept int their service based n the likelihd f a successful utcme under PBR? Respnse: We ensure that targets d nt skew behaviur. It is nt just abut hard targets, we als measure sft targets. The wellbeing scale identifies what peple need and at end f their jurney that scale will have imprved under key indicatrs. Gaps fr lnger term cnditins has been identified and we are lking at peer supprt with gd quality supprt and training. Nrth Kent Mind ffer pen sessins fr as lng as needed which cmes under peer supprt rather than the recvery mdel. Q: Will there be anther pprtunity t bid fr innvatin funds fr prject such as Vince s Public Media prject? Respnse: Yes, Vince culd put frward a prpsal next year. We can als supprt Vince t lk at ther funding pprtunities. When the Kent Cuntryside prject ends we are supprting them t lk t Sprt England t cntinue their prject. Q: Is there any difference in referrals between genders? Respnse: The numbers are pretty even nw as mre men are referring. There are lts mre campaigns fr men such as Release the Pressure and lts f services have seen an increase in referrals since the Lndn Marathn spnsred by the Ryals. 3. Prvider Service Update/New Members: Vince: Recently met Mayr Hlmes t talk abut creating a cmmunity space in Lwfield Street t supprt peple in psitive activities t help them engage in the cmmunity and n the rad back t emplyment. Chris and Vince agreed t meet up t discuss this further. MEGAN Andy: The DGS Service User Frum is held n the first Tuesday f the mnth frm am at the Gravesend Adult Educatin Centre. MEGAN CIC als run a mnthly scial grup fllwing the frum. The Persnality Disrder Peer Supprt Grup runs every Thursday frm 1-3pm at the Gravesend Adult Educatin Centre. We cntinue t wrk with rganisatins and recently had a representative frm The Grand attend the frum t share infrmatin abut the services available. MEGAN CIC are lking t arrange a visit t the Gurdwara temple in Gravesend and will be hlding a daytrip in September DWP - Philippa Darby: First time attending, nt frm this area and lking t make gd cntacts. The remit f the Disability Emplyment Trainers has changed and we will be upskilling fr this rle. Carers First - Tracy Avis: We supprt carers frm age 16 upwards. Carers Week 12 th 19 th June with lts f events at Gravesend Gateway with lts f rganisatins ffering advice and infrmatin. We als ffer scial events, theatre trips, arts and crafts with the Ellenr Fundatin. Yung adult carer afternn tea talking abut what they face and might need. 4

Task & Finish Grup Update Chris advised that althugh the Plice & Crime Cmmissiner (PCC) had prvided funding fr the Crisis Café it had nt been pssible t take this prject frward fr a number f reasns. After a lt f hard wrk they were unable t get further funding t make this happen. Reluctantly had t take a step back and the funds were returned t the PCC. 7.
