All board members (and especially all new members) are encouraged to attend (with fees paid by the chapter). 3 3 Guest Night NOVEMBER 5: Do They Know You Sing? -Aaron Watts- We have a Guest Night (FREE SINGING LESSONS!), and Holiday Chorus kick-off, coming up at our Wednesday, November 5 th rehearsal. This time of year is our best to get new members, so be sure to invite a guest you know how much fun it will be! As you know, the best way to introduce singers to the Fairfax Jubil-Aires is by direct contact from you! We gotta get out more! Do they know you sing?! Be sure to send our Love to Sing? combined Guest Night and Holiday Chorus flyer out to your singer friends! Heck, you can even post one at your local barbershop, put one in a local newspaper, or get one up on your church website or bulletin board anywhere a singer will see it! We have a director staff that I dare say most chapters would die for. We are singing better than ever. And we have the most welcoming bunch of guys a chapter could hope for. Look for singers when you are out and about! Drop them a note so they can make plans to visit us for FREE SINGING LESSONS we have them every Wednesday! and offer to pick them up! During the last week we were able to get A. L. Post 117 to drop their per plate cost from $22 to $16, and get the Hall on March 14th, the Saturday before St Paddy's Day. We have it booked from 12 noon to 5:00 pm. This is the same venue where we've held the previous six events. 4 4 Cobbler s Corner -Cliff Shoemaker- Good news for the dual members who will also be singing with the Harmonizers at Wildwood. The Keystone Capital Chorus agreed to switch places with the Jubil-Aires, so that we will be singing in slot #21 instead of slot #24. The changes have already been made on the M-AD website (order of appearance page). Since the Harmonizers are singing at #26, this should give our dual members plenty of time to finish our time on stage before changing and joining the Harmonizers to warm up. Be sure to thank the Keystone Capital Chorus guys for accomodating us in this way. Keystone Capital Chorus

5 5 This week has reaffirmed my view that barbershoppers are some of the best folks in the world. Not only did the buys in Keystone help us out, but the Atlantic Harmonies quartet agreed to switch places with LoCo4, so that Dale Bird would have more time between his performance with LoCo4 and Shameless. In both cases, not only did these guys quickly agree to help us with our scheduling difficulties, but they expressed best wishes and how much they are looking forward to being with us in Wildwood. Since I have started meeting with the Division VPs, I have been further impressed with how interwoven the network of barbershoppers is across our Division, our District, or nation and even the world. At Internationals in Las Vegas, I was impressed when Gary Plaag came to sit near us and was greeted as a great friend of one of the Swedish choruses sitting near us. With next year s convention being in Pittsburgh, we need to all be thinking about how much fun it would be to get a busload to the 2015 International Convention. I have to believe that the M- AD will be well represented there, and we should be a part of that. Groupanizer 3.0 is going to challenge our patience. Theoretically, you should now be able to login to the members only area on the front page (upper right corner) of the public website. However, I don t think the old user names and passwords are working yet. I have ed tech support to address the issue and will follow up with information about how to get on the new site. I am going through the different areas, one by one, to make sure all is working properly, and it will take time to fix the bugs. Thank you for your patience!

6 6 A Photographer SLEEPS With His Camera! -John Knueven- OK, so I guess I can edit but I m not much of a photographer. below were taken with my phone at long range. Sigh The pictures But what a show the Chorus of the Old Dominion presented! I was quite worried that a 3 hour show (turned out to be 2 hours 45 minutes) would have me bored. NOT! They presented great high quality songs and good variety, keeping me in my seat the entire time. The kids are an a- capella group from Loudon County called the Loudon County High School Intonations. They sang one song which sounded great! Can t wait until they join up! Not pictured (I guess I was too mesmerized by the quality sound!) is the new quartet LOCO 4. After the show I told Dale Bird that he had found his quartet. They sounded mellow, totally in sync and Dale was ever so resonant. Great presentation, LOCO! Watch out, Shameless!
