PRESIDENT S MESSAGE My Dear Altrusans, I know we are all very busy in our daily life, so for those of you who were able to attend the dedication ceremony for our second Little Free Library was most appreciated. On Saturday, April 6 th, we gathered at Sky Park Ranch for our official opening of our LFL. Not only were members present, but two of my neighbors joined us as well. I posted an announcement of our LFL on my neighborhood Facebook page and received over 35 comments thanking us for putting the LFL in Sky Ranch Park. I feel very strongly that the neighbors will sustain the book supply and Altrusa will need to provide few books, though I have a stash of books in my garage. So a big THANK

YOU to all the members and spouses who were able to attend our dedication ceremony. After the ceremony we all went to lunch at Mimi s in Santee. I think and hope everyone had a great time.

4 June 1963 they loaded up their car and headed west. After arriving in the golden State, their second daughter, Kerry, was born, and Linda began working in the Santee School District where she did everything from a classroom aide, to substitute teacher, to teacher and eventually to vice principal. The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Linda Kennedy was honored at the Spring Circles of Celebration on Saturday, March 30, 2019 for Professional Service to the Organization The Area XVI award for Professional Service was presented to Linda Kennedy for her ongoing efforts over many years both at the area and at the state levels as a leader of the Scholarship and Stipend Committee. Additionally, she served as SKG CA Programs and Ceremonials chair creating resources for chapters to use for installations and initiations. Linda was born and raised in the Show Me State of Missouri. She attended Central Missouri State University where she met her future husband, Ed Kennedy. After their marriage and birth of their first daughter, Carolynne, the Kennedy s made the decision to move to California. Although they had no jobs waiting for them, they had heard salaries were high ($6800 vs $4500 in MO) and that jobs were plentiful. In Linda was invited to join ETA Iota Chapter of DKG i8n From the very start she was a solid advocate for the Society, and she served in many chapter offices. In 2001 she was recruited and accepted the office of Area XVI director for the biennium during which time she played a pivotal role in encouraging and building the newly formed Baja Ensenada chapter. During that time, she was also honored to receive the Golden Gift Award from DKG International. Linda has regularly attended state conventions, regional conferences, and even 10 DKG International Conventions in such places as Iceland, Swede, Germany and Norway. She is the type of individual who has never met a stranger as they say. Her outgoing personality and warmth have endeared her to DKG member at home, around the country and around the world, and her efforts on behalf of aspiring young teachers have greatly enriched the teaching community. We are proud to have Linda as a member of Altrusa. Dr. Willa Ramsay received a certificate for 35 years of membership in Delta Kappa Gamma at the event.
