9 Membership Renewal Our new membership year begins on 1st May 2016 and ends on 30th April If you have not renewed your membership, you can do so at this meeting or by post to the Membership Secretary, c/o Beeston Methodist Church, Chilwell Road. Stamped self addressed envelope required. As promised earlier in the year our membership fee for the next U3A year will be 15 and this can be paid either by cash or cheque which should be made out to Beeston U3A. If you have any alteration to your Gift Aid status could you contact Margot Gale at or inform her by post or at the open meeting.
10 Please let your Group Leader Know: 1. If you no longer wish to attend a Group. This will allow new members to join a Group with a waiting list. 2. If you have a reason why you can t get to Group meetings but still wish to be a member. Four nonnotified absences in a row will result in your name being removed from that group and the place open to someone else.

14 Coffee at Group Meetings If you use the church s coffee and tea facilities at a Group Meeting, please remember you need to pay a contribution of 30p per cup per person towards the church s expenses. The coffee and tea is not free.

18 Christmas Visit 2016 A visit to Haddon Hall is being planned for Friday 9 December 2016 to see the Hall decorated for Christmas. It is hoped to arrive in time for tea/coffee and then take a leisurely walk around the Hall to see the Christmas decorations (approximately 1.5/1.45 hours). This may be followed by food at Haddon and a stroll, weather permitting, around the grounds. Cost Leave Lace Road at 11.00am

20 Art History Art History is running a trip to Florence from Saturday 12th - Wednesday 15th March The cost is per person (costs are based on two people sharing a twin room, single supplements apply) and this includes transport to and from the airport, return flights to Pisa, return coach transport to Florence, a central hotel, 2 dinners, a full art programme including tickets to the Uffizi gallery and the services of an art lecturer. 22 Bowls Group Bowl sessions are arranged for all Fridays at 10.30am lasting 2 hours - all members welcome. Numbers are gradually increasing and we had 8 persons attending which meant we had 2 lanes open. However, the other 2 sessions on Monday at 10.30am and Thursday at 10.30am are booked, and also available to those who indicated that they preferred these dates. Just turn up to any one or more sessions you will be welcome, and they are completely for our members.

27 'Readers Rendezvous This is the name of Beeston U3As new book group, which is now ready for new members. We plan to meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month, 2 3pm, at the White Lion, Beeston. There will be no meeting in June, but we ll meet monthly starting July 21st. To find out more or to let me know if you plan to come please contact Alison Wilson on alison@solidus.co.uk. You ll be more than welcome.
28 Singing for Fun Led by Margaret Johnson we sang with enthusiasm and enjoyment for the first time on 26th May. Future meetings will be held on the 4th Thursday of the month, 10am-12 noon. 29 Table Tennis Group We are now playing every Monday morning, except during school holidays, and of course Bank Holidays. We all enjoy the sessions, which are played in a very friendly way. The group has proved so popular that we have started a second group. This group will be immediately after the first group, and will commence at each Monday morning, with the same provisos. The second Group will be called Ping Pong in order to distinguish it from Table Tennis for admin purposes. There are a few places available in this group so if you are interested, don t delay, contact Kathryn Deane on kcadeane@hotmail.co.uk

31 IT Learning Central College are keen to link our members with some of their IT students to establish a kind of Silver Surfers arrangement, where members can get one to one help with PC. Tablets and mobile phones. After a slow start, several more members have expressed an interest. It is hope that the sessions will start up in September. It s not too late! If you are interested in taking part in this arrangements, please respond by contacting Steve Austin on beestonu3a@hotmail.co.uk and include brief details of your needs, ie PC, Tablet or phone, and what you need help with.

33 A second Medium Walking Group is needed to cater for a waiting list that the existing group can`t accommodate. The Group needs a walking coordinator/leader to take responsibility for communication and organising the monthly walk programme. Leaders do not lead every walk; they lead some.
