It s once again my pleasure to serve as your President! I would like to extend a huge welcome to all of our new families joining us for their first summer. I hope you love the Club just as much as so many families have over the years! There was no rest for the Executive Board this off season! We had another year of big improvements this winter that you can t miss. A BIG thank you to the Bondholders for allowing all these improvements to be made! First, we tore down the old playground equipment for the younger kids and had a new playground installed that is perfect for kids 5 and under. This new playground coupled with our new kiddie pool installed last year, makes us the newest, and in my opinion, the best pool club around! Thank you to Amy Fontaine, our Vice President, who spent many hours making sure the playground was ready for your enjoyment this summer. Next, the new deck is also a can t miss improvement this summer. Over the Spring we added 50 feet of deck, something that is always in
2 demand. The new gazebo will be the perfect place to read a good book or chat with friends. Lastly, another improvement is located in the men s room. For quite a number of years, the men have requested a separate changing area in the bathroom and it was finally built this Spring. Two separate changing rooms were installed in the men s locker room. We hope that you enjoy all of the new improvements this summer! The Board spent many extra meetings to make it possible! Most of our staff will be returning this summer and in case you haven t heard, a Club favorite is back this year after taking a few years off! Frank Laliberte is back at SSTC as Tennis Pro this year and we couldn t be more excited! I would also like to thank Kim Pellerin, our Club Manager, and our Groundskeeper Mike, for all of their hard work throughout the offseason. As always, please feel free to me at mrsjackiedoyle@yahoo.com with any questions or concerns! Most importantly, sit back, relax, and enjoy your summer with us! Vice President Amy Fontaine M y name is Amy Fontaine. This is my second year as Vice President. This will be my 4 th year on the board. I would like to welcome all our new members. I look forward to getting to know all of you over the summer. I am also looking forward to catching up with all of our returning members. I know my boys are counting down the days until they see their summer friends. I wanted to take a moment to thank Kim Pellerin and the rest of the board for all the hard work they have put into the season. We have been busy all Winter and Spring planning a wonderful season for our members to enjoy. We have made some big improvements this Winter. The two biggest ones are the new playground and the addition to the back deck. I am looking forward to watching the little ones enjoy the new playground and members enjoy relaxing on the deck. I am looking forward to spending our summer at SSTC and making wonderful memories that will last a lifetime! If you have any concerns or ideas for the season please contact me at ramysue@verizon.net. Secretary s Report Alicia Cook M y name is Alicia Cook. I am the secretary on the board at SSTC. This is my second year on the board and I ve been a member since My family and I look forward to SSTC opening every summer. There are so many activities for all ages. Just a friendly reminder that guest passes cannot be used on July 22 nd, (Kids Fair), and the price for any guest that day is $10.00 Of course all your old favorites will be back such as Family Bingo, Drive in Movies, Watermelon Day, Make Your Own Sundae s, Frozen T-Shirt Contest, Tie Dye Week and so much more.. This summer is going to be a great time. My kids and I are counting down the days until we see our summer friends and we are looking forward to making some new ones too. SSTC provides a wonderful atmosphere for our families to come and relax during the summer months. Please take time to familiarize yourself with the grounds and the staff. Please do not hesitate to stop by the office and introduce yourself if it is your first summer with us or to say hello if you are returning for another season. Here is some information you will need to know:
5 1. Lesson sign ups can be done through the office and all lessons begin on June 26th. Sign ups begin on June 12th. There is a change to the tennis lesson schedule as they are only being given on Monday, Wednesday and Friday this season. 2. Barbecue pits are lit each night, weather permitting, at 4:45pm. You must request a fire at the main office. We ask that members please share grills whenever possible. 3. There is no food or drink on the lower grounds with the exception of water. We try to make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible and ants crawling all over your things is not enjoyable for anyone so please, only water on the lower grounds. 4. The new decks outside the rec hall can be reserved for parties. Please indicate which side you wish for your function. The rec deck will be split in two with one side being the gazebo side. Please make sure to indicate that that is the side you want. Also, part of the picnic area can be used as well. Party planners are available in the office. 5. Please keeps all chairs behind the white line around the main pool. The area inside of that line must be clear to allow lifeguards room to move all around our pool. 6. The last 15 minutes of every hour is adult swim. All children must vacate the pool to allow adults 15 minutes access to the water. 7. Guest fees are $7 per person at all times and refunds are not issued because of weather. 8. Please reference posters outside of the office for information on events happening at SSTC. These are some of the main things you will need to know as a member of the club. If you have any questions, please don t hesitate to stop by the office to ask. Someone will be happy to help you. Enjoy your summer here at SSTC. Swim Team Holly Bubier Ihave been coaching youth swimming for 10 years and will be coaching at SSTC for my fifth season! I love encouraging kids to join our team, improve their endurance and technique while making new friends! We work hard all season to compete at the annual Narragansett League All Pool Meet Championship in August! We will be hosting a stroke clinic on Saturday, June 10 th at 9am for anyone interested in trying the team or finding out more information. That morning will also be suit sizing and ordering for the swim team. Swimmers ages 5-16 are welcome!! Please remember that only water is allowed down by the pool. All other food and drink is reserved for the picnic tables and snack bar.
6 Club Lessons Our lessons are free with your membership and they include swim, tennis, and arts and crafts. Tennis and art lessons are bracketed by age and our instructors are very flexible in accommodating those children who have conflicts with the schedule. The pool is not as flexible, as we want to open by 11am for free swim on days of lessons. Swim lessons are based on swimming experience. Schedule times can be found on line or posted on the office door. A quick synopsis for those who are not sure where to place their children: Level 1 is for those children who are pretty much on the wall the entire time and cannot be left without an instructor. Level 2 is for those children who are a bit more comfortable in the water and are learning basic floating and some introduction to strokes. Level 3 is for those children who can swim on their own and are trying to put strokes and treading together to pass the deep end test. (Test = swim one lap of the pool and tread for 2 minutes.) Level 4,5,&6 for kids who are strong swimmers and are trying to master their stroke technique and learn some lifesaving skills. Facility Hours Monday-Thursday Pool Hours: 10:00am-8:00pm, Grounds close at 8:30pm Friday & Saturday Pool Hours: 10:00am-8:30pm, Grounds close at 9:00pm Sunday Pool Hours: 11:00am-8:00pm, Grounds close at 8:30pm
