1 YWPS Newsletter Message From the Principal 5/6 Camp In my travels over the last 2 weeks I have heard from the students point of view (over and over again) just how fantastic Camp Kangaroobie was. Teachers told me that the campers were enthusiastic about everything and impeccably behaved. The camp owners tell us that Yarraville West is one of their favourite schools to host. I would say that s a perfect outcome and so, on behalf of you all, I thank the teachers who worked so hard to make it possible and to Simone Tepelis for coordinating it all. And the fun continues In the short term we can also look forward to the Yarraville District Cross Country event, level excursions, our whole school Athletics day and Education Week. New Taps!! During Term one the collective student voice was heard!! They said the taps were shabby, not functioning properly and we need more. So. the plumbers have just about finished updating and installing new drinking taps across the school. They look terrific and I m sure they will be appreciated by all. Curriculum Day Just a reminder that our curriculum Day is on Friday 11th May and there will be all day care provided by OSCH. Cost is $40 (includes lunch) Contact Tracey or Biddy to book in. Hats Compulsory HATS ON season has finished until September. We encourage children to wear their hats but we won t police it. Konnective If you haven t already joined Konnective, please do. 2 PE/Sport News ##06-03/05/18 Coles Vouchers The vouchers are no longer being handed out at Coles so the next phase is to send in all them all in. We sent off eight parcels of them today and have one ready to go. If you have any at home please send them as soon as you can. A very big thank you to Tanya Stacey (Nate Nesbitt s Mum - 1/2 Erin) for organising the counting groups and continually collecting the vouchers from Coles. Tanya even counted vouchers at home! She is a superstar. We lost count towards the end due to 5/6 camp but we are confident the total is around 100,000. Thanks to everyone who collected them. Secondary Transition Forms Year 7 Transition Forms are due back by next Friday, May 11th. Please return them to your child s teacher. 0

MOTHER S DAY POP up shop Yum, yum, yum Don t forget to send between $1 and $5 to purchase a gift for Mum, Grandma or another special person. We have a range of gifts that will be sure to delight! MOTHER S DAY CAKE STALL Yum, yum, yum Gifts and cupcakes! What more could a mum ask for? Cupcakes will be on sale after school for $2ea. Always a huge hit with the whole family! 14 Mother s Day Classic Hello. My name is Meredith and my little brother s name is Fred. This year we are doing a charity run for the Mother s Day Classic (MDC) which is a day where people raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation. It is my 5th year and Fred's 2nd year running. We would like to encourage people to sponsor us to raise more money. Here are some reasons for why you could sponsor us Approximately 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer before the age of 85. Men still get breast cancer, but with a lower chance. There is no cure yet. The National Breast Cancer Foundation hopes to reduce it to 0 deaths by 2030, and if you sponsor us we ll get more money to the scientists; so there will be more of a chance that this will happen.
