1 Moose Lodge 452 Chapter 2121 Woodward, Oklahoma 452, Loyal Order Of Moose Family Teachers the Heart of Mooseheart by Don Parella Over the past years I have brought you many stories of mine and other members experiences at Mooseheart. Yes, it is a beautiful facility, the services we provide are amazing and the kids are great. I also encourage you, if you have not been there, to go and experience Mooseheart for yourself. In all that time I have not mentioned one of the most important assets to the success of Mooseheart: the family teachers. During the past two years, I have come to truly appreciate the effort and dedication of these individuals. Many of us have heard the stories of the lives of the children when entering Mooseheart and the positive impacts Mooseheart has had on them. None of this would be possible without the family teachers. Based on my experience, they are the single greatest factor for the children You Are Invited ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS!!! You are all invited to watch The International Ritual Championship Team on the evening of March 25th. Your lodges team is hosting an lodge enrollment for members both men and women. That's right all of the Lodge members and all of the Chapter members can witness the best Lodge Ritual Team in the Moose. We will also have a meal that night for members that would like to watch your team in action. The ritual will be preformed as if we are competing in front of the judges, (so members only please). That being said the team will be in Las Vegas in June during the International Convention to defend our title. You will have an opportunity to learn and remember your obligation and realize how much and their families adjusting to Mooseheart. The family teachers help develop the social skills of the children throughout their time at Mooseheart. As the children mature, they are given more responsibilities and privileges to allow them to develop the life skills required in life, i.e., cooking, cleaning, laundry and budgeting. Living in a home and caring for up to 10 children is not a task for everyone. But family teachers are not everyone, they find their jobs very rewarding and love working with the kids. They take great pride in seeing the successes of the children and have the strength to deal with the challenges. If you happen to know of someone like this, Moose International is always looking for Family Teachers and it is a great opportunity for recent college graduates, although a college degree is not required. 2 A Word from the Page 2 Spring is just around the corner. With the arrival of spring brings a new Moose year. A new Moose year means it is time for lodge elections. The nominating committee has been formed. It is made up of the elected officers of the lodge, five past governors, and five lodge members. That being said, we are currently seeking lodge members that would be willing to donate their time to be a lodge officer. Being a lodge officer is not hard, but it does require the commitment of some of your time and effort. If you have said I need to get more involved this is your chance. The nominating committee meets on just three Monday s in March. March 4 th, 11 th, and 25 th. If you are interested in learning more, please contact a member of the nominating committee. The list of the committee members, date and time of the meetings along with the nomination forms are available in the social quarters on the bulletin board. The OSKMA Mid-Year Conference is March 14 th 17 th at the Enid Moose Legion Update Hello Moose Legionnaires The Moose is an international organization of men and women, dedicated to caring for young and old, bringing communities closer together and celebrating life. Last month I talked about how important it is for you, to pay your dues. I wanted to start this months newsletter with one simple sentence that describes, the very essence of what we do. Please remember this first sentence, and relay it to any potential members. If someone is curious about the moose you now have a good opening line to introduce them to what we do. Some of you that read the newsletter might be wondering, where I came up with this line? This sentence comes from the Orator position witch is my first line in the Moose Legion Lodge. Registration and hotel information is available on the bulletin board. Friday March 22 nd is Steak and Shrimp Night. We will begin serving at 6:30. Monday the 25 th the Lodge Ritual staff is providing the Monday night meal and performing the enrollment ceremony. All members are invited to attend, and I do mean all members. Men and women. Been a member for a day or for fifty years. You are invited. You see last year the Woodward Lodge ritual staff was bestowed the honor of being the best lodge ritual staff in all of the Moose Fraternity. We have been working hard to earn this honor again at the Moose International Convention to be held in Las Vegas this year. Having a crowd present helps us do our best. So if you have never seen the enrollment ceremony or maybe it has been a few years. Please plan to attend and allow us to tell the story of the Moose. See you at the Moose! The only thing that s kept us from getting it the past few years is our membership. You can help by renewing your membership, reminding your friends and family to renew their memberships and reminding anyone you ve sponsored to renew theirs as well. This not only helps us toward our membership goals but also helps support Mooseheart and Moosehaven. Thanks for your continued support! You also can see pictures and read what is going on both of our campuses. The pictures of the kids playing sports and learning in school are a great reminder of the importance of being members. Also, the life we provide to our senior members at Moosehaven is unmatched across the nation. When you are curious about what is on in the Moose, or feeling a little down, take a look at mooseint.org. It will not only lift your spirits but inform you of what's going on.
