1 Moose Lodge 452 Chapter 2121 On August 26 th WOTM Chapter 2121 had an unique opportunity to spend some time with their Sunshine Grandparents Joe and Donna Noack from Moosehaven. In early August Joe contacted the Chapter to let them know he and Donna would be in Oklahoma and wanted to know if arrangements could be made for them to meet up with members of the chapter. As Joe put it, it would be great to meet some of the folks we communicate with. Since their daughters live in the Stillwater area and are both members of the Stillwater Chapter, members of the Woodward Chapter contacted Stillwater Lodge and Chapter and coordinated a small reception for Joe and Donna. Most of the afternoon was just visiting, discussing the Moose, life at Moosehaven, the Centennial Project and meeting some of Joe and Donna s Woodward, Oklahoma 452, Loyal Order Of Moose A Special Afternoon (by Don Parella) family as they dropped by. Of course like most Moose events good food, some sweets and refreshments rounded out the afternoon. I know the girls really enjoyed the afternoon. As for myself discussing Joe s involvement with the Moosehaven Ritual team and his wishes for me to pass along a congratulations to the Woodward Ritual Team for their performance at International was a high point. I think the one point that members from both Woodward and Stillwater came away with is the importance of the Sunshine Program. Hearing first hand how appreciative Joe and Donna were for the cards, letters and little things the Chapter does for them from time to time puts a whole new meaning on the program. Special thanks to the Stillwater Lodge and Chapter for your Update October, the month of ghosts, goblins and candy corn. Join us October 13 th and 14 th for the Smokin Bar-B-Q Competition. Friday night is the Cook s Choice tasting event. It s a great time to visit with friends and sample some great BBQ. We can always use a few more judges or help during the event. Competition entry forms are available in the social quarters. Ticket sales have been good for the Smokin Bar-B-Q Triple Raffle, but I know we can do better. Tickets are $5 ea. or 5 for $20. We have three items you could win. First up is a $500 give certificate from Butch s Guns, second up is a RV Work Cajun Fish Fryer, and finally 50lb Ground Beef Bundle. Winners will be drawn on Saturday October 14 th during the awards ceremony of the Smokin Bar- B-Q Competition. Our next Gathering assistance in making it a great afternoon. In addition to Sunshine Grandparents, the Chapter has a Sunshine grandchild at Mooseheart. 4 Women of the Moose Update Hello Co-Workers, October is going to be a big month at the Moose Lodge so get ready. If you like to eat and socialize Friday, October 6 will be the Fish Fry starting at 6:30. Saturday October 7 we will have trivia Night. Rounding out the week, October 8 will be kids play day at the Lodge. We will have something good to eat for the kids. The kids had an amazing time last month. October 13 and 14th is the annual Smokin Bar-B-Q competition girls let's get our aprons on also. State darts is that weekend in Enid. Friday, October 27 is Steak and Shrimp Night and golly it's good. Saturday, October 28 we will have Trivia Night and a pool tournament. Do not forget Monday Night s to give mom a break from the kitchen. Please come out and support our kids and seniors at Mooseheart and Moose haven. On a serious note do you realize that we, the Lodge and Chapter are grandparents to three beautiful girls and a boy at Mooseheart? The Lodge and Chapter are so proud of these kids. Two of the girls and the boy are from Oklahoma. I wonder how many of you really knew that? It's amazing to see the changes in the kids that we know personally. They are thriving. I mean really thriving. The characteristics that I have seen developing in them are things we want for all our Page 4 children. They're learning responsibility sharing, caring, having pride in their self, excepting who they are and letting other people be who they are. They are happy, learning and experiencing new things and growing. The kids are involved in big sister little sister program, church, band, sports and 4 H, and an array of other activities. One thing that really touched me is there willingness to do things for their community, on one of the trips they took to Chicago the girls took sandwiches and other items and handed them out to the homeless people living under a bridge, they said it made them feel like they were making a difference, I cried. What a great organization the Moose is. Please keep your dues current, there are little boys and girls counting on you. Many of the members from our lodges and chapters in Oklahoma and Kansas will be just coming back from Mooseheart Homecoming where they have cooked for the kids, alumni, employees of Mooseheart and I'm not sure who all. So, the next time you think about the Moose know we are making a profound difference in the lives of two wonderful girls from our Lodge and one sunshine girl we have offered to be her sunshine grandparents. Thank you, you are appreciated more than you know.
