1 LIEUTENANT COMMANDER This semester has started off strong. We have awarded those who attained the top 4 in merit points their discounts on dues and recognized the top 10 on their achievements. The bylaws were most recently updated with a few changes. Honor Board has enforced repercussions on those who didn't meet the grade requirement and sent some to a time management class hosted by our Commander, Scholarship Chair, and myself. Ryan Garner Lieutenant Commander Figure 1 - Colony members during a fall recruitment event. PETITION FOR CHARTER The petition was sent off to Josh Green with a major overhaul. He is currently reviewing it. There will be a few things left to put in and then we plan to send it off again in November to High Council with the hopes of being chartered. Josh Green referred to recent petition review as a "tremendous improvement from last time". We are well on our way and putting in the final pieces and plan to submit the petition on November 14th for High Council to review. Ryan Garner Lieutenant Commander

2 RECRUITMENT Fall rush this year included three weeks of scheduled events resulting in 16 accepted bids. Over the course of this semester we have kept all but one due to money issues that will consider joining in the spring. Along with nonstop rush, work for the petition has also been in the process. The Theta Sigma colony has adopted National s recruitment blue book as the year round recruitment plan and is working nonstop to continue stirring interest amongst the Missouri State population. Spring rush events are in the works and will hopefully draw in good men to join us in the spring. Derek Myers Recruitment Chairman MARSHAL We started off the fall semester with 16 new candidates, 2 of which I am sad to say that we have lost because of financial issues. We are very excited about our fall class and the quality of men that we have recruited and several of them have already stepped up to run for chapter officer positions for We are currently about 2/3 of the way through their new member education program and they are currently working to plan and execute their own social event and community service event. We have coordinated with the Gamma Xi Chapter in Rolla and we will be taking a day trip to Rolla to do a joint LEAD session with both of our candidate classes over leadership and working in teams. Several of them have also started working to recruit their friends and we hope that will help us to recruit another strong class for spring and help us grow to close to 50 members. Christopher Corey Parker - Cottleville, MO Bryan Gosseen - Gamma Xi 1382 Candidate Marshal BROTHERHOOD I'm currently working on keeping brotherhood strong within the fraternity. We recently had a brotherhood retreat in the form of a camping trip where we also performed our Candidate Father/Son ceremony. It was a great time and gave the brothers a chance to forget about the stresses of school and just hang out and talk to each other. I plan to have a brotherhood broom ball event this will let the guys blow off some steam and have fun at the same time. I also plan to have a discussion with the candidates about what rituals are, and why they are important. Corey McNew Chaplain Merchandise Chairman

4 LEAD LEAD is Sigma Nu's award-winning ethical leadership development program. In alignment with Sigma Nu's continuing efforts "To develop ethical leaders..." we offer the LEAD Program as a tool to assist our membership in both gaining the knowledge and developing the skills and abilities needed to be an effective and ethical leader for life. There are four phases of the LEAD Program, Phase I; The way of Honor, Phase II: the Life of Love, Phase III: The Light of Truth, and Phase IV The End... The Beginning. Each Phase is for each year in school and covers a variety of topics from leadership to resume building. I Strongly encourage all Alumni to participate in any way to gain experience not only for yourself but for our members at the Chapter Level. The LEAD Program is a comprehensive ethical leadership development program designed to ensure participants "learn by doing." We are always looking for Facilitators to discuss and talk on a variety of subjects, please feel free to call me whenever if you would like to be a facilitator ( ). We can discuss what you will be talking about, and the resources in which i can give you, or call if you have any questions, Thank you very much and have a good day. Nathaniel Gueltzau LEAD Chairman SOCIAL This semester the social scene is spanning most of the last half of the semester. We have planned our semi-formal event for November 19, 2011 at 319 Downtown. The semi-formal is being planned with Xi Omicron Iota and being used as a list party. We hope the event turns out to be a success. We are also in the midst of planning a list party event at the beginning of December to train our incoming social chairmen on how the paperwork for event planning works. We also had many different social events planned during the week of homecoming, that has just passed. We had a 70 s roller skating night to kick off the week. On Monday and Wednesday of homecoming Sigma Nu had the Green Jacket and Tennis Racket exchange and a Pajama party exchange with Gamma Phi Beta and Phi Delta Theta. Plans are being prepared for the spring semester as well as preparing our members of the new class to be potential candidates for the social chair position as we move into elections. 5 GREEK WEEK AND HOMECOMING We did a fantastic job as a fraternity and pairing during Greek Week. We were paired with Sigma Kappa and Delta Chi. As a pairing we won Greek Jam. This made it the second year in a row that Sigma Nu won Greek Jam. Individually Sigma Nu won third place overall for the second consecutive year. Homecoming, unfortunately, didn t go near as well as Greek Week. I have to admit, however, that I m very proud of our guys for showing up to everything. Even though we didn t place, our guys were willing to put in any number of hours asked of them throughout the week. We stood out among our pairing as the fraternity that was willing to step up and do whatever was needed. This fall Colony members have Worked on several community service projects Such as Bear Crew and the Weller Community Extreme Makeover. 6 ALUMNI RELATIONS The alumni turnout for homecoming was pretty low again this year and we hope to improve the turnout in future years by improving communication between the collegiate members and alumni. Because of the possibility of being chartered in the spring we do not yet know whether or not there will be a charter day celebration this December. In speaking with the chairman of the Alumni Advisory Board I have been told that this might be put off until the date of our charter in order to allow more alumni to attend and avoid alumni having to make 2 trips to Springfield for 2 separate celebrations. More information will be put out about this as it becomes available. During this period of rebuilding the chapter alumni support is needed now probably more than ever. Most established chapters have the advantage of still having recently graduated alumni in the area who visit often and help keep the collegiate guys on track. Whereas because we were off campus for 7 years most of our alumni have moved away and don't have any contact with the collegiate members. So even though we do not yet have a house that you can find us at, if you are in Springfield we invite you to drop by one of our Sunday chapter meetings and meet the guys. You would be surprised how much something as simple as an alumni dropping by a chapter meeting inspires and motivates all of the guys. Alumni support is also very vital as we search for some kind of fraternity housing. None of the members have ever leased, purchased, or even lived in a fraternity house before so this is all very new to them. When we do find housing we will also need to establish a Alumni Housing Board in order to help manage the finances. So if this is something you would be interested in helping with please let us know.
