PRESIDENT S LETTER Maura Robinson Happy March! Flowers are blooming in the desert and it s time to start thinking about spring y embroidery projects: maybe flowers, or birds, or bright colors? Thanks to Suzanne for her program on appliqued wool felt. I learned a lot about a technique that is new to me and ended up spending a bit too much time searching for wool applique patterns and kits online... maybe you did too! Just in case you haven t enough stash... Our chapter garage sale will be April 5 6 at Harriet Padilla s house! Thank you to Claudia Dutcher Kistler and Sandra Murray and everyone who has helped price and sort! We have some beautiful needlework supplies, fibres, beads and kits. Be sure to mark your calendars. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to help price and organize the garage sale merchandise CONTACT CLAUDIA to help out. Its lots of fun and you will get a preview of what will be for sale! The Tucson chapter is able to provide great programs and workshops because YOU volunteer your time and talents. Please consider contributing to make the chapter a success! 2 PROGRAMS Kris Curtis Sandra Lambert April: The program for the April 4th EGA meeting will be an informal trunk show highlighting smocking, heirloom sewing and embroidery. Kris Curtis will show items which she designed, sewed and embroidered for a series of articles she wrote for "Australian Smocking & Embroidery".. LIBRARY Suzanne Knepper The new library on line catalogue system is now available. Access is available through this link: Our hope is that our membership will use this resource more by having this computerized access. Please check out the site. We appreciate your feedback. The PIMA COUNTY FAIR Betsy Smullen Demonstrating The Pima County Fair is Thursday, April 18 th through Sunday, April 28 th this year. For those of you who signed up to participate in four hour shifts between 10am and 5 pm on Saturday, April 20 th, you will receive an entry pass and a parking pass from Betsy before April 20 th. We will have a couple of 8 foot tables for stitching and display in the air conditioned Old Pueblo Hall. Electricity is available, so you are welcome to bring your own task light. We will also have a glass display case into which we can put smaller items for the day.

3 BEADING This position is OPEN!!! We have an opening for someone to lead our Beading Group which meets the second Thursday of each month at 9:30 at Ellie Towne Flowing Wells Community Center. In the meantime we will have discussions each meeting about projects we would like to do at our future meetings. At our next meeting on April 11 th we will be working on fobs for the November Pacific Southwestern Regional meeting that our guild will be hosting. We encourage group participation as well as those who wish may work on finishing other projects. WORKSHOPS This position is OPEN!!! Our Guild has contracted for the following classes, more information on costs and times will follow, the dates are firm. GARY CLARKE This class will be offered by our chapter December 3 rd and 4 th, 2019 at the Mini Time Museum MARCIA DECOSTER Marcia DeCoster will be teaching a custom beaded project for our chapter on February 8 th and 9 th, We expect to have a proposal for selection of the project at our April meeting. MARCIA DECOSTER teaches national and international workshops specializing in designs using right angle weave. She is a featured artist in Masters: Beadweaving (Lark Jewelry & Beading), and her work has been published in Carol Wilcox Wells s The Art and Elegance of Beadweaving (Lark Jewelry & Beading) and Margie Deebs s The Beader s Color Palette (Watson Guptill). She has taught for many years at the annual Bead&Button Show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

4 Pacific Southwest Region Helen Salkowski Our Tucson Chapter has been selected to host the bi annual Region Meeting this fall. The date has been set for Saturday, Nov 9 th. Attendance is estimated to be around 60. I will need several volunteers to serve on a committee to make this Region meeting a success, so please save the date! Let me know if you are willing to help out on the day of the meeting to act as a hostess for our guests. Thank you. EGA TUCSON GARAGE SALE Claudia Dutcher Kistler garage sale coordinator see flyer next page for more details Friday April 5 & Saturday April 6 th 8 AM to 2PM are sale times ( 7 AM if working the sale) Set up will be April 3rd and 4th. (April 4th is our EGA meeting.) Take away and clean up to be completed by Sunday afternoon April 7th at the latest. I need helpers. Several signed up at the March EGA meeting, more help is welcome.
