3 Top Wings of Amarillo GWRRA Chapter A January 2016 Newsletter Page 3 CD S CHATTER G LENN & JUDY TYLER C HAPTER DIRECTORS Glenn & Judy Tyler Chapter Directors 02/01/2016 Well here it is February 1 st and winter is reminding us that it is still winter. I believe we got a little spoiled with the warm days. It makes you want to start spring projects; paint the house, put up new windows, build that new BBQ pit out on the patio, etc. The nice thing is that spring is only about six weeks away and we can enjoy the prospects of fresh new adventures. Where will you plan to go? Is it a trip that we could enjoy on our motorcycles? Have you been there before and do you have pictures you could send to Joe Babcock our new Newsletter editor! Sharing your adventures will let us see the world through your eyes. Who knows what wonders you bring! Our new Treasurer is Kaci and Kendra Jones. A graduate of no doubt the worlds best college, Kaci brings at least two or maybe three college hours and even weeks of experience to the table. But I m just kidding; of course, we are very glad to have Kaci and Kendra as our new Treasurers. We will still be looking for a few new positions to be filled in the club. Remember, we are all busy and at different stages in our lives, so enjoy where you are and remember family and health is always more important than anything else. When you have your priorities in order you will have a much more peaceful and happy life. Never over load yourself and never be afraid to say, thank you for the offer but not at this time. 4 GWRRA Region H TX Chapter A Newsletter January, Page 4 Membership Enhancement Coordinators Betty and Bill Hisey Our goals for the Membership Enhancement Program are to: Participate with Region, District, and Chapter directors to assist in creating the FUN portion of GWRRA s events Ensure that we stay in touch with our current members and have our MEP representatives at every level take the time to really get to know our GWRRA family members better the better we know one another, the more FUN we can have! Contact new and prospective members to give them information about GWRRA and encourage them to have FUN with us Track successful FUN ideas and share them with MEP staff at every level of the organization Provide information to GWRRA leadership to assist them in planning and making informed decisions about GWRRA s direction While the Chapter Directors are known as the FUN Directors, our Chapter Membership Enhancement Coordinators can support the FUN Directors by becoming the FUN Experts. They are the folks you can talk with about ideas for increasing the FUN in your Chapter life and don t be surprised if you end up becoming more involved as a result! Remember the more you participate, the more FUN there is to be had! Are you a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA)? If not, then you should check it out. 11 Page 11 FEBRUARY PICTURE OF THE MONTH The February Picture of the Month comes from Jerry Campsey. It is an image of what Jerry claims is the two oldest living organisms on earth, his brothers Lee and Billy. However, BEHIND Lee and Billy is the OLDEST TREE IN TEXAS. It is a Coastal Live Oak that is 1000 YEARS OLD!!! No big deal. We re pretty sure Jerry s older than the tree!!!! The plaque is a little hard to read, but it says the tree is 11 feet across the trunk, 35 feet around the trunk, 44 feet tall, 89 feet across the crown, and, again, 1000 YEARS OLD. AMAZING!!!! Jerry came across the tree riding on the gulf coast. Thanks for sharing, Jerry!
