2 From the Principal.. There have been times where I have fallen short in my own words and actions. Although it is not our intention to hurt or harm others with what we say and do, it does happen. We get caught up in our own sense of selfimportance and think we are right and they are wrong. We forget that there is often more to it than just what we are seeing or experiencing at that moment in time. Everyone we meet has a story to share and tell and we can often forget to respect that. It is not always easy to be gracious and generous, in fact God tells us that it won t always be easy to do. That is part and parcel of being a Christian. In Luke we are told: If a person hits you on the side of your face, let him hit the other side too. If a person takes your coat, don't stop him from taking your shirt too." Luke 6:29 This is not easy to do but we must do this. This week I pray that all of you are courageous in turning the other cheek when things fall short of your expectations and that you are able to speak graciously at all times to everyone around you, using your words and actions for His good will. Year Six/Seven Assembly Thank you to our Year Six and Year Seven students for leading our whole school at assembly last Friday. It was again fantastic to witness the learning that is taking place in each class. Having been away since last term, I was impressed with the growth in learning that was shared. Sometimes you need to be away from a place and space so that you can come back with fresh eyes and notice the little things we don t always see when we are around all the time. Page 2

3 From the Principal continued.. Last Day of Term Three A reminder to our families that we will be finishing early next Friday. We will end our school day with a whole school Chapel Service at 1.30pm at St John s Lutheran Church and then dismiss students at 2.10pm. Everyone is welcome to attend the Chapel Service. SRC Casual Day The SRC Casual Day will be held next Friday 30 September Children are able to dress in casual clothes for the cost of a gold coin. No makeup or jewellery are to be worn and appropriate closed in shoes are required. Prayers for Fi I would like to share this update with all of our families. Fi s husband Paul is experiencing ongoing health issues and with that comes the pressures of attending appointments and prioritising the need to be with her husband. There have been times when Fi has not been at work because of this and I would like to thank all of our staff for their support in helping out in many ways during these times. In particular I would like to thank Sonya Mosey, Lynn Grosser and Brenda Verrall who have been helping out at the front desk on days when Fi has been unable to be here. Please continue to keep Fi and her family in your prayers as I know that this will strengthen her resolve and determination to manage all that is required of her in her role as wife, parent and employee of our school. Lost Property There are currently seven school jumpers in our lost property which are all unnamed. If your child is missing his or her jumper please come in and check our lost property. This requires that each student demonstrates engagement with the five essential elements of the programme: knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes and action. The students in our class have been organised into groups of four or five according to the student s inquiry interest and focus. Each group has been assigned a mentor who is working closely with and supporting the group with their inquiry. You are all invited to come and celebrate with the Year Six/Sevens on the night of the Exhibition: Thursday 27 October, 7:00pm in the School Hall. We are hoping to get a commitment from community members who wish to be on a sporting club redevelopment committee. We see this as at least a three year commitment. This meeting will not involve a discussion about what it is the community needs or wants but will gather together people who have an interest in sitting on this committee to lead the redevelopment. Any current bowlers and intending new bowlers, of all ages, male and female, are asked to please contact Trevor Preston ( ) or Chris Doecke ( ) by 30 September The 2016/2017 season starts tentatively mid/late October and goes to around March, with a couple weeks break over Christmas. Come along for a couple of hours of fun, meet new people and try something new instructions available for beginners. Bowls are available at the club for those who don t have their own. Dress: casual clothes, but wearing flat soled shoes is a necessity. No smoking. Bar facilities and supper available. Cost for Adults: $5.00 per week or $60.00 per season (plus $1.00 per week light money). Cost for Student Bowlers: First year $1.00 per week Second year onwards $5.00 per week or $30.00 per season (plus $1.00 per week light money). All welcome Page 7
