2 EVENT The 2016 Heroes Luncheon scheduled for, Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Spokane Convention Center will bring together approximately 500 community leaders to honor hometown heroes. These heroes reflect the mission of the Red Cross by responding in time of need with selfless acts of courage, compassion and volunteerism. HOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE? Just post! On the following pages you will find suggest social media language and images. Help us spread the word about the Heroes Luncheon! WHO SHOULD USE THIS GUIDE? 3 THE RED CROSS STORY The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
4 MISSION OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. VISION The American Red Cross through its strong network of volunteers, donors and partners is always there in times of need.
