The Alberta Cancer Foundation stands alongside every Albertan that hears these fateful words by offering three in return, we will help. Through the generosity and commitment of our donors, we invest in people, ideas and initiatives that push the pace of progress, ignite innovative research and implement leadingedge treatment. It is our mission to make life better for all Albertans facing cancer. We don t do this alone we bring together donors, patients, health care providers and researchers as we know this is the fastest way to close the gap between diagnosis and a cure. We are the designated fundraising partner for the 17 cancer centres across the province, including the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary. Through this partnership, we are able to make investments that matter investments that have a clear line of sight to patient outcomes. These investments provide actual, quantifiable returns: Cancer patients returning to their lives, parents returning to their children, employees returning to work, people from all over our province returning, by the thousands, to their communities. BUST A MOVE EDMONTON Event Overview On May 13, 2017, join hundreds of fellow movers and shakers for a fitness extravaganza as we strive to raise valuable funds for the Alberta Cancer Foundation in support of breast cancer research at the Cross Cancer Institute. Every day, 6 Albertans are diagnosed with breast cancer. This equates to 1 in 9 Albertan women being diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. These are not just statistics. These are our loved ones, our neighbours, our friends. The Alberta Cancer Foundation s Bust a Move for Breast Health event is your opportunity to create more moments for Albertans facing breast cancer. Whether you re a yoga master or a step class disaster, you will make a difference for cancer patients across the province. It is time to be bold. It is time to save lives. YOUR DOLLARS AT WORK The Alberta Cancer Foundation s Bust a Move for Breast Health is a fitness extravaganza in which hundreds of participants gather to leap, laugh and lunge their way towards a single goal: making life better for Albertans facing breast cancer. In five years, Bust a Move Edmonton has not only managed to bring back neon colours and tutus to the local fashion scene, but it has also raised nearly $2 million to support innovative breast health initiatives led by Dr. John Mackey at the world-class Cross Cancer Institute. The valuable funds raised through Bust a Move are directed towards the Clinical Trials Unit at the Cross Cancer Institute, which is vital to fast-tracking those eureka moments from the research lab into the clinic. This means that Alberta patients will receive access to groundbreaking treatments years before they are available to the general public. 1
