2 HELPING OC CHILDREN IN NEED Children living in poverty start their school year at a large disadvantage. Without crucial school supplies, these students cannot fully participate in classroom activities or complete their homework. The annual SOS Back To School Program was launched in 1994 with the goal of closing the educational gap for in need K-12 students. In 2017 alone, over 4,000 backpacks were distributed to Orange County children enabling them to start the school year prepared and ready to learn. With your generosity, we will continue to grow both the number of students served as well as the resources offered. Thank you for helping us bring joy and learning to those in need. 3 MAKE A DIFFERENCE LEAD A DRIVE Become a Drive Leader to support the SOS Back to School Program WHO CAN BE A DRIVE LEADER? Anyone who is part of an organization a business, school, family or social club and wants to help children in need in the community is qualified to lead a drive as part of the SOS Back to School Program. ROLE OF A DRIVE LEADER A Drive Leader will Facilitate donations and participation within your group by distributing flyers and lists of in-need items to friends and colleagues. Please see the final page of this document for a flyer you can use to promote your drive! Deliver the donated items collected to the SOS Costa Mesa Facility (listed below) or arrange pickup with our staff. Donate Online - Your generosity allows us to serve more children by buying backpacks and school supplies in bulk. Volunteer during the SOS Back to School Program.
