Trevor In Progress Ask the NSCSO Office Manager Susan to one of our Area E Mini Assemblies to discuss possibly combining quarterly assemblies. - Trevor attended the NSCSO meeting last month and floated the idea of holding combined Assemblies. The next step is to put a 1-2 page proposal together for review. - Trevor will be attending the Area G combined assembly on the 26 th Aug to see how it operates. 2 combining of the Area G and CSO operations Everyone to promote members to subscribe to the Area E Website Everyone to promote filling of the vacant Area E positions: o Secretary o Public Information Officer o Mixer Editor o WebServant Idea to put a time limit on temporary two hats service AA 30 Sec Commercial at movies: at 2017 year end look at having the commercial screened at Warringah Mall for 1 movie for 3 weeks over the Christmas period. It will be screened 25 times a week for a total cost of approx. $1000. Also review commercial screenings as part of the new unity project, possibly raising special contributions from meetings. ALL ALL On Going On Going Rose P Hold NOTE: It was agreed that the November 2016 motion be amended by inserting after automatically closed unless retention of an item is approved at an Area E committee meeting. NOTE: A motion was passed June 2018 that the area meeting goes for 1.5 hours but be extended at the Chairman s discretion if there are pressing items to be discussed. AREA E Committee Reports Role Area E Chairperson Name (Interim) Trevor H Date 27/07/18 Report I attended the NSCSO committee meeting in an unofficial capacity. I ve agreed to put together a 1-pager on the idea of shared assemblies based on what they re doing in Area G. The next Area G Assembly is Sunday 26 August and I ll likely attend to see how it works, possibly with someone from NSCSO. I ll echo that the AA Australia Structure Survey deadline is 31 August. Please either complete as an individual or as a group -- completing it as a group is enlightening -- AA is an amazing organisation where we can all work for a common solution with room for some very different viewpoints. Role Area E Area Delegate Name John B Date 1/8/18 Report II will be an apology for the August meeting In relation to Area E service positions: Trevor H accepted the Chairman s job on a temporary basis in addition to the Webmaster job. The AA Service Manual states that it is better to do one job, it then opens up a service opportunity for another member. Trevor has displayed the attributes of understanding the service structure and leadership and I suggested that he accept a nomination for Chairman on a permanent basis, he indicated he is prepared to do this and I recommend this to members. Subject to the above, the jobs of Secretary, PI&CPC co-ordinator, Mixer Editor and Webmaster need to be filled. Will you please make members aware of these service job opportunities? The Eastern Region Trustee job is vacant, the suggested experience for this job is outlined in the notice on the aa.org.au website. Briefly these are; 10 years sobriety and experience in some other categories e.g business or professional background, leadership, grasp of service structure, availability

3 Chapter 9 of the AA Service Manual provides more extensive information. A member prepared to consider nominating may wish to read this material and/or talk to a member who has experience in this job. Coming events in Eastern Region: August 24-26, 2018 National Treatment & Correctional Forum at Byron Bay (flyer on areaeeraa.info website) April 18-22, 2019 National Convention at Canberra (early bird registration - $100 is available, registering and paying now will assist in financing for the Convention) Role Area E Alternate Area Delegate Name Anna S Date Report I have attended Public Information evening organised by Road to Recovery s. I was very impressed by the effort that went into organising and executing such a big project. There is definitely a need for such events in the community, and hopefully we as an Area will be able continue along these lines. The experience provided by RTR will be very beneficial while preparing for PI Forum, which Area E is hosting next year. Michael S submitted 2 options being advertising at shopping centres and cinemas and NSCSO are happy to proceed with advertising at cinemas. Michael S and Bruce M are going to visit NSCSO on Wed 8 th August to answer questions and determine whether to proceed. o Michael S to send a link of the YouTube videos that will be used in the cinema advertising so they can be added to the minutes. PI&CPC Sub Committee National PI Conference: o Trevor provided an update on behalf of Peter T The room has been booked for Friday evening and Saturday September 14/15 for the 2019 National PI Conference to be held at the Chatswood Dougherty Centre. Key Highlights Small increases in attendance week by week with one long standing member visiting from as far as the Windsor area. Also, 3-4 newcomers (each under 90 days) have returned to our meeting on successive weeks. We are financially sound with our rent paid in advance and an assortment of literature all paid for from monies received from the 7th Tradition. Surplus does not go beyond a prudent reserve. Telopea Wed 8 PM Meg B Members Approx 8 Attendance Approx Average Last Conscience 1st August, 2018 Rehab Clients Visiting N/A Key Highlights Attendance has been poor recently - as low as 6 for one meeting; competing with State of Origin on Wednesday nights plus the cold weather is assumed to be the major reasons. The Meeting still attracts a good number of members with long term sobriety and a few newly sober members. We recently paid our annual rental for our meeting room and have updated some literature from 7th Tradition contributions. Lane Cove Mon PM Step Study Trevor H Members Approx 20 Attendance Approx 30 Last Conscience 14-May Rehab Clients Visiting Northside, 3-5 pax Key Highlights Read steps (etc) from Big Book and 12x12 in 28 week cycle. Good mix of Sobriety; one member with 45 years this month! Mona Vale Sunday Spiritual Concepts Tina S Members Approx numbers up to 11 but still spasmodic attendance at meetings..best solution could be to announce at other meetings with forthcoming GC hopefully acknowledging this decision. 6 Seaforth Tue 7 PM Pam W Members Approx 22 Members as at Attendance Approx 12 to 25 Last Conscience 15th May 2018 Rehab Clients Visiting Up to 4 weeks ago - SPP were bringing a mini-bus along to our meeting. At this point it has stopped due to a reschedule of SPP Program and they are now taking the bus to a Coda Meeting instead. Key Highlights We are full swing into our Meetings now being in the actual Church whilst a major renovation is taking place in the Hall. This means that we do not have the same Kitchen Facilities - but it is working well with the Urn and throw away Cups. Numbers are down at present and this could be a combination of no SPP Bus, Change of Venue and the fact that it is Winter.
