We hope to induct 9 potential members by August The club meets weekly every Wednesday at 6pm at Fusion Bistro, located in Mirco Centre, George Town. First time guests are welcome to attend free of cost and subsequent attendance will incur a fee of CI$7 (until the time of induction). Page 1

3 Community Service Open Arms Award Ceremony Open Arms Family Fun Day Diabetes Awareness Coastal Clean ups Little Cayman/Cayman Brac Clean up HIV/AIDS Shades of Red New : Prospect Primary School Mentoring Program o Assist students with their work during after-school sessions. Prospect Primary School Beautification o Restore school s entrance garden by tree planting, repairs, painting etc. This would be a great way to get the students involved in the beautification of their school. It has been agreed that Rotaract Blue can place signage to brand it. Home Restoration Project o Seek families whose home is in dire need of home repairs such as painting, plumbing, fixture replacements etc in order to improve the quality of their life. Teenage Pregnancy forum o Contact various schools and programs who cater to young mothers in our community and conduct a group discussion forum (with young mothers) on the issues faced with teenage pregnancy and its related topics. The information will be recorded and published in local newspapers and other media forms; however all participants will remain anonymous. This tool will help bring awareness to teen pregnancy in the Cayman Islands and to help reduce these pregnancies significantly by becoming mentors and a support system. The club will work alongside experts in this area. Highway/Roadside Clean Ups o Seek bypass roads or other roads that require clean up. Park/Beach Restorations o Conduct repairs and clean ups to various parks and beaches throughout our island. Voluntary work with Special Olympics o In conjunction with our Open Arms Program, the club will aim to include persons from the Special Olympics during our projects and include them on our donation list with proceeds made from Open Arms Award Ceremony. 4 Club Service Members are the heart and soul of any Rotaract club. Therefore the goal of the club is to keep members happy and to get new membership to the club. Current Improvements: 1. Membership Retention & increase 2. Promote enthusiasm 3. Keeping the current members happy Birthday Celebrations (monthly) Club Brochures New Projects: Splash BBQ o Beach BBQ fellowship at a local beach. Invitation will be open to Rotary family and friends. Each person is asked to donate $5. James Bond meets Austin Powers o Members will dress according to the theme for a night out on the town. Provide transportation and accessories. Halloween Party - Warriors, Fangs, Witches & Fairies o Members will dress according to the theme (Warriors, Fangs, Witches & Fairies) for a night out on the town for a funfilled spooky fellowship! Thanksgiving Dinner o Joint celebration with fellow Rotararians & Rotaractors in celebration of giving thanks at a local restaurant. Christmas Meeting o Gift exchange ceremony including fun Christmas games and snacks. New Years Brunch o Members will gather at a member s residence for brunch and fellowship. Page 3

5 Sweetness o Create and sell gift baskets for Valentines Day in an effort to raise funds. Baskets will be distributed throughout the week leading up to Valentine Days. Members and friednds will join in fellowship while the baskets are being packaged. Rotaract Blue Auction o Details TBD Year End Party o To celebrate the success of our projects for the year and recognize everyone for their hard work and dedication, members will gather at a member s residence for a BBQ. Other Feedback Forms o Ask members to complete forms and provide feedback on the operation of the club such as club dues, meetings, projects and any other related comments/questions. This will be done on a quarterly basis. The information gathered will be evaluated and given the circumstance, the necessary action will be taken. Business Cards o Create and distribute business cards for all members Membership Drives o In an effort to increase membership, the club will host several membership drives for an opportunity to highlight our main projects and encourage potential members to join and learn what Rotaract is about. This will be a relaxed event with a focus on fellowship. Page 4

6 Professional Development After a very successful year in , many of the projects during that year will remain with a few additions. Due to unforeseen circumstances throughout the second half of , very little professional Development projects were carried out. Vocational Grant o After funds are raised from our annual pajama party called Dreamzzz, a grant of $500 is issued to at least one individual (Caymanian person between the ages of 16 30) who wish to pursue a vocational/technical career (local and abroad). The grant may be used for educational expenses such as tuition, fees, books, accommodation, food and other related expenses. Through advertisements in various media forums, persons who are eligible are encouraged to apply for the grant. Cayman Islands Investment Bureau ("CIIB") Presentation o Representatives from the CIIB will be invited make a presentation to the club with respect to the various services they provide such as entrepreneurship, preparing business plans, starting up a small business, network etc. Business Etiquette Workshop o A presentation geared towards preparing club members and guests for any business dining event ranging from a casual reception to a formal dinner. Whether it is entertaining clients, attending corporate celebrations or participating in client-hosted events, dining techniques (or lack thereof) are always on display, thus members of the club will have an opportunity to improve these skills and therefore make a good impression in the future. Guest Speakers New Projects: Public Speaking Presentation o In order to enhance public speaking skills, an expert will conduct a presentation discussing various public speaking skills including the fundamentals and how our members can develop confidence while doing so. Investments Presentation o Contact various guest speakers to conduct presentations regarding the topic during our club meetings. The discussion will also include investments within the real estate industry. Page 5

7 International Service Build a Classroom Project/ Out of Africa Fundraiser o Shoe Drive o Identify local shoe stores and place bins and encourage members of the public to donate used shoes. We will kindly ask persons to have them laundered before they are donated. The shoes collected will then be shipped to another country (TBD) for the less unfortunate people. Stamp Design Project o Create a competition and encourage the local primary schools to participate whereby students will be asked to submit drawings which will be used as an official postage stamp for our country with an aim to be recognized worldwide. $5 will be required per entry. An evaluation will be done once all artwork has been submitted and a winner will be selected. New : Rotarians For Fighting AIDS (RFFA)- ANCHOR Kidz Club o Donate funds to organization which is a facility which takes care of AIDS patients. Seeking to raise at least $2000 USD. Best Buddies Foundation o A donation and partnership for people with disabilities. Work alongside Lighthouse to create list of students who would like to keep in contact with other persons who share similarities and keep in contact via . Encourage club members to join E-Buddy program with persons with disabilities. Roots Talk o In conjunction with Professional Deelopment sessions, various members (individual or group) will have an opportunity to explore/present their heritage and share it with the membership. This exercise will also help members with presentation and communication skils. Presentation will include fun facts, history, ancestors, culture. Members are encouraged to be creative. Page 6

8 Fundraising All-Inclusive Boat Cruise o Details TBD New : Kickball Tournament o Various groups will sign up as a team. 10 players per team. Each team will be required to submit a registration cost $150 per team which will include limited equipment and refreshments. The goal is to have 12 teams. Raffle prizes will be given and a grand prize will be awarded to the winning team. Fish Fry Sale Bingo Competition o Various persons will be asked to sign up and pay an entry fee. Entry fee will include cards, pins and opportunity to enter the raffle. Raffle prizes will be given out and a grand prize will be awarded to the winning team.
