I want to thank every member of the Taunton Lodge #150 for having the faith in me to elect me as your Exalted Ruler for the coming year. I am honored that you have put your trust in me and intend to do the best job that I can. As many of you know I am a new member of this Lodge having demitted from the Wareham/New Bedford Lodge, but I can assure you that I am 100% committed to the success of the Taunton Lodge and hope that each and every one of you will join me in ensuring this Lodge is successful not only this year but for many years to come. Recently we all enjoyed the benefit of coming back to the Lodge again. I would like to thank all of the current and past officers and members for their efforts thus far in getting to this point and I am proud to be a part of the team in seeing it through. However, the road ahead does pose some significant challenges. While I agree that time is of the essence and would love for our new home to be completed quickly, I feel it is more important that we learn from the mistakes made in the past and take the steps necessary to develop this property in a method that places an emphasis on quality and ensures our financial future. I hope that all of the members of this Lodge will be patient in this process, have trust in the officers and members of the building committee that have volunteered to take on this difficult task. While completing the addition and development of our property is an essential part of my year, it is not the only responsibility we have as members of this Order. I have also set the following goals to ensure our success: In terms of membership, we will strive to initiate or reinstate 150 new members to this Lodge. While the Lodge was not open we lost many members and I hope that you will join me in welcoming back a past friend and ensuring that our new members are welcomed and appreciated. Serving our youth is an excellent way for the Lodge to venture out and expose itself outside of these four walls. We will work diligently to reinstate the Hoop Shoot and Soccer Shoot programs. We will continue to support our military through various ENF grants and hosting the Brockton VA for a dinner or two. As you can see I am optimistic and enthusiastic about the future of our Lodge and have set some fairly lofty goals for us to achieve. I want you to know that not one of these goals is achievable without you! Please consider helping us to achieve one of these goals by volunteering your time. As your Exalted Ruler, I will make every effort to listen to each and every member and inform you of the ups and downs along the way but I need your help! My hope is that I have chosen items that will inspire you to be a better Elk, member, and person! Together we achieve Greatness!

4 House Committee News: Dear Brothers and Sisters, I would like to thank our Exalted Ruler, Donna Allen, for appointing me as Chairman of the House Committee. There are many challenges ahead of us but I feel this committee is up for the task. House Committee meetings will take place on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 6:00 pm at the lodge. All members are welcome to attend however if you would like to speak at a meeting you must be put on the agenda to do so. Keep in mind rumors and hearsay distort the facts. Antlers Volunteers and Mentors Needed Taunton Lodge #150 Grand Lodge has been working on reinstating the Antler Program. This program is for ages twelve to twenty. Having younger members will assist in growing our youth program interest and participation. This program will help teach the importance of community service, tradition, and respect of our country. Elks programs benefit all ages. Applications are now available at the lodge Here is a great opportunity to a make a difference in a Childs life. The Taunton Lodge of Elks is seeking to partner mentors with young adults and children in a community collaboration with Girls Incorporated and The Silver City Teen Center. All volunteers will need to submit and pass a criminal background check. Have something to add to the newsletter? Want to report to the membership about committee activities and meetings? Please send all submissions for the newsletter to newsletter@tauntonelks.org Submissions are due no later than the 15th of each month to be included in the following months newsletter. Timely information submissions are essential for the newsletter to go out to the membership on time. Volunteers are also needed to help prepare the newsletters for postal mailing. 6 The Lodge Visitation Committee Chairman: James Strojny PSP, Treasurer, Tim Avelino PDD, Loyal Knight The Lodge Visitation Committee would like to become more active in addressing those members of our lodge who may have some challenging health issues that prevent them from coming down to our lodge and/or are in Long-term Facilities/ Nursing Homes. We need the help of you our members and/or family members, to keep us informed of any Members who may have medical/health issues, that a visit or a phone call may brighten their day. We would also like to keep track of any members who may not be able to visit the lodge due to residing in Life Care or Nursing Homes. This is in keeping with our motto An Elk is never Forgotten Also, we are looking to increase the number of members who are on this committee, so if any member wishes to become active in helping with this committee, please contact either Jim or Tim.
