1 Northland Elks News Kansas City (Missouri) Northland Elks 2376 Published Monthly: Issue 4 Volume 128: April First off let me say that it is an honor to be the upcoming ER for this next year! This is an amazing group of Elks that I am proud to call my brothers and sisters. I would like to thank Mike for his term as ER, not only did we initiate several new members, but we grew closer as a family. I would like to congratulate Bill Moore and RD Mallams for their installation into their new district officer positions. We are all proud of you and know that you ll be an asset to our district. Let s give a shout out to Pat Dierker for continuing to be our state treasurer. On April 2nd at 6:00 PM we are holding our first scholarship breakfast meeting. If you are planning on volunteering please attend. This event takes a lot of effort and team work to be successful. We d love to see you at the meeting if you can attend. The Scholarship Breakfast is scheduled for May 4th and 5th so please start talking about it and let s spread the word. I was completely blown away with the members who always volunteer and the job we all do. April 7th the DD/VP meeting is being held at the Cass county lodge if anyone would like to attend. April 21st is Easter and the lodge will be closed. A huge congratulations to our two students, Gavin Ott and Kathryn Bullock, who are finalists in the national scholarship judging. Another congradulations goes out to Faith Carlson for getting 3rd place in the regional hoop shoot competition. The Board of Directors Meetings are always held the third Wednesday of the month at 6:00 PM and want to remind everyone that all members have the right to attend!!! I have fallen in love with this lodge, the membership we have is second to none. Keep up the great work and please see me or one of the officers if you have any concerns or questions. Each year, our Lodge allocates from its budget $8,000 to $10,000 in scholarship assistance to high school seniors from the nine Northland high schools. This year, the Scholarship Breakfast will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 & 5, from 7:00 to 12:00. During the month of April, each member of the Lodge will receive 4 tickets to the breakfast. We are encouraging all members and family members to join us for the breakfast; however, we know that isn t a possibility. We are asking that if you are unable to attend, attempt to sell the 4 tickets and return the $20 in the enclosed envelope to the Lodge; or if you are unable to sell the tickets, we are hopeful that you will provide a financial contribution in support of this rewarding Lodge project. Elks Caring and Elks Sharing! The next planning meeting will be held at the Lodge on April 2nd, at 6:00. On this evening, we will begin to coordinate the many activities to support the breakfast. If you are interested in being a member of the planning team please join us. 5 DID YOU KNOW? Our Lodge members are able to rent the lower hall for $225. This is a great place for birthday celebrations and family get togethers. Also, if you refer someone to the Lodge, and they rent the hall, you will receive a $25 stipend from the Lodge. PHOTOGRAPHS OF VETERANS Just inside the door of the Lodge, a bulletin board, Wall of Honor, has been prepared with the photographs of Lodge veterans from the armed forces. If your picture is not displayed, bring a copy of a photo and give the picture to one of the bartenders so that it can be added to the Wall of Honor. HELP WANTED: BE A FRIEND AND BRING FRIEND TO THE ELKS! Together, we can identify prospective leads that want to support our community and to have fun! Invite them to a Lodge dinner or activity, share with them how we help others, and again, have fun. LADY CARDS Hey Ladies of the Lodge! Don t forget ladies cards at the Lodge on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 1:00. Don t worry if you do not know how to play, we will teach everyone.
