It took about 4 years (off 4

5 and on) and she thanks her colleagues in Suite 315 for putting up with the tears, especially during her stats class. She has already established two organizations Music4More and is planning a trip to Guatemala in conjunction with another charity The Mile in December to donate instruments to community organizations. If you would like to contribute, the link to make donations is: Community Service On May 5, 2014 several students from the DPT Class of 2015 volunteered at the Hope Lodge to provide the families with dinner. The Hope Lodge provides a complimentary room and board for individuals who are undergoing treat and their caregivers. The facility is located in downtown Baltimore, which makes it convenient for individuals from out of town to access medical facilities in the greater Baltimore area. They prepared a "baked potato bar" that included a large varieties of toppings from cheese to fiesta chicken! The students were able to sit down and have dinner with families and learn more about their experiences as patients. The event was a huge success and a return visit is highly anticipated. Volunteering at the Hope Lodge was a great opportunity for the DPT Class of 2015 to give back to the community and get a better understanding of what individuals with cancer experience from a patient's perspective. 5

6 Maryland Half Marathon Congratulations to Dr. Mary Rodgers for completing the Maryland Half Marathon on Saturday, May 10th!! Over the last 5 years, the Maryland Half Marathon has raised over $1.5 Million for the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center. PTRS Poe Cup Championship Party 6

7 Students who participated in URecFit Poe Cup Challenge of intramural sports from the Class of 2014, 2015, and 2016 all attended a celebration party at the student center for winning the year-long intramural competition. The Poe Cup will be proudly display in the PTRS Department for the next year! Congratulations!!! Announcements Fund Raiser Monday mornings, when you are trying to figure out where you will get that muchneeded coffee fix to kick-start your week, please consider Peace and a Cup of Joe. Every Monday during the month of May from 7am - 7pm, they will donate up 7

8 to 10% of their profits to the DPT classes of 2015 and Just show your ID to one of the friendly staff and let them know your are associated with PTRS. The rest will be taken care of by Peace and a Cup of Joe. Thanks!! Peace and a Cup of Joe is located at 713 W. Golf Tournament PTRS has been notified that we will be the beneficiary of the URecFit golf tournament this year! The tournament will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Oakmont Greens Golf Club in Hampstead, MD. We welcome PTRS participation! If you are interested in registering for the golf tournament or know someone (like family members) who would be interested in participating, please help us spread the word and share this link! This is a great way to have PTRS friends support our department.
