2 Today s clinicians are faced with many challenges and are seeking guidelines on how to care for their sports medicine population. This course will allow participants to gain knowledge regarding state-ofthe-art management of sports medicine problems. The staff at Hospital for Special Surgery is uniquely positioned to provide this information to a local, regional and national audience by combining the expertise of our rehabilitation staff, surgeons and physicians. Target Audience This course is ideal for physical therapists, athletic trainers, coaches, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of athletes. welcome PROGRAM Learning Objectives At the end of this seminar, participants will have learned to: Describe and critique new advances in treating the athlete who has sustained a soft tissue injury Prepare a plan of care to rehabilitate patients with hip pathology, including conservative and surgical management Recognize the management of challenging knee disorders and describe treatment strategies as they pertain to rehabilitation Determine the differential diagnosis and treatment options for athletes with elbow disorders Assess current surgical and rehabilitation interventions for injuries and disorders in the field of sports medicine Discuss an evidence based approach to rehabilitation strategies for hip, knee, elbow, foot & ankle, and lumbar spine disorders Accreditation Hospital for Special Surgery is a New York State Education Department approved provider for physical therapy continuing education.
