3 INTRODUCTION This first National Symposium will be organized by the Service of Plastic & Hand Surgery along with the Burn Center over a two day program held at the Lavey Medical Center where we have collaboration for Burn Care Rehabilitation. This event will bring together the members of our National SwissTransMed Platform and medical doctors, scientists and students specialized in different aspects of wound management, burns and also rehabilitation. It s goal is to reinforce scientific interactions, education and inspiration for new treatment modalities in this Highly Specialized Medical field. We are already working together since two years in our platform (B5 platform) where we have the collaboration between five National universities (UNIL, EPFL, UNIGE, UNIBE, USZ) and three hospitals (CHUV, HUG, UZH) with the CHUV being the leading house. We have benefited greatly with these multidisciplinary collaborations. The preliminary program includes, for the first day, plenary lectors from the platform members and outside participants, two poster sessions (morning and afternoon) and three keynote speakers, industry exhibitions and finally the conference dinner at the same site. The congress will be followed in the second day on burn wound management and rehabilitation of burn trauma patients with plenary lectors, one keynote speaker and industry exhibitions.
