Intended Audience: The activity is designed for dermatologists, dermatologic surgeons, radiation oncologists, clinical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, physician assistants and nurses. Activity Description/Statement of Need: Skin cancer is the most prevalent malignancy in the United States, with over 5 million cases treated annually. Non melanoma skin cancer accounts for 98% of these cases. Treatment of non melanoma skin cancer ranges from simple procedures to major surgery. Radiation therapy is playing an increasingly important role in the treatment and outcome for these cancers. The unique external position of the skin makes it amenable to various modalities of radiation therapy. Both external beam and brachytherapy techniques are currently being utilized. Various energy sources including electronic systems, no longer requiring the use of radioactive isotopes, are now being used for high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy. Several ongoing and recently completed trials will help to determine the usefulness of this new therapy. This live webinar will bring together experts in the field of treatment of non melanoma skin cancer, from both a dermatologic and radiation therapy point of view. This case based live webinar will discuss the various treatment modalities, as well as the latest information on outcomes data.
