2 dermofeel surfactants are 100 % naturally derived and PEG-free The product line dermofeel products comprise a carefully chosen line of emulsifiers, functional oils and antioxidants for cosmetic and dermatological applications. The well balanced product profiles are tailored to meet as many requirements of modern cosmetic concepts as possible. Functionality and technical performance are the main focus for the development of the dermofeel product line. Wherever possible we choose raw materials from sustainable sources in order to comply with this important trend for an increasing number of consumer products. The product consists of a polyglyceryl ester formed by an average of 5 glycerol units and oleic acid. The origin of both components lies in renewable plant sources. The manufacturing process uses environmentally friendly condensation reactions and does not involve any kind of alkoxylated species. Therefore is PEG and PPG free and consists of a favourable distribution of different chain lengths in the polyglyceryl part. The comparison of various polyglyceryl laurates with the corresponding polyoxyethylene ethers of lauryl alcohol revealed a better performance of the polyglyceryl esters in reduction of surface tension, foam formation/ stability and detergency. is a potent solubilizer comparable to PEG-based materials An easy and versatile application is achieved with Application Ecocert listed can be employed in various cosmetic products. Many natural oil gel formulations have been realized, e.g. for face cleansing, as lip gels massage gels or body scrubs.. As a solubilizer it is often employed in alcohol containing and alcohol free product concepts. Due to its hydrophilic structure it has a good water binding capacity and leaves a pleasant skin feel. The excellent skin and eye compatibility grants applicability in virtually all cosmetic products. is a pure ingredient with 100 % active ingredient content of polyglyceryl-5-oleate. It can be employed directly, by mixing it with the ingredients to be solubilized and/or the aqueous/hydrophilic phase. Premix and Glycerol under stirring and light heating until a homogeneous gel results. 2. Add oil phase B to phase A at room temperature stepwise and in small portions under forced stirring. Before addition of the next portion each step should be stirred very well until a homogenous gel results. Viscosity will increase after each addition. 3. After addition of the oil phase adjust viscosity and refractive index with water. 4. De-air the product. Specification Values: Appearance: Clear yellow viscous gel. Viscosity (Brookfield: LV4; Speed 10): Approx mpas. Centrifuge (15 min., 4000 rpm): No separation. Stability: More than 3 months stable at 20 C and 4 C, some turbidity at 40 C after 6 weeks. Additional Note: The first step in formulating an oil gel is always to dissolve the emulsifier in a polar medium, preferably Glycerol. Then stepwise addition of oil at room temperature under forced stirring follows. In this procedure the oil gel is formed. It is very important to add the oil stepwise and very slowly to allow the system to form the gel without to much oil at once. 1/10 oil weight to glycerol weight is recommended for the first 5 10 increments. Later on the amount of oil for each portion can increase. After the oil has been added completely, adjustment of viscosity and / or transparency can be done by addition of water. For transparent products the refractive indexes of the oil phase and the water phase have to be almost the same (difference > 0,005). Polyglyceryl esters are common ingredients in the food industry and have practically no toxic effects even when administered orally as high as 8 % with the food 4,5.
