Mrs. McCIattie Joved her church Ihd served ih the lowing capacities: Ghcfir, Usher Board, Women s Mission, DeJ coness Board and the #1 Smith Club. At the time of her deal! she was the Motheijbf the Church. Mrs. McCIattie was also a; member of the Deaion s Union^ Mrs. McCIattie was a formerll member of the Order of the Eastein Star. She attended schoolm a one-room schoolhouse on Washington Road in Evans, Georgia. She was unable to attend sc^sol lo: pough to graduate, because she had to work on the family farm. Irs. McCIattie was an advocate for education. She always "stressed the importance of education.., t ^s.;4t :. W jjk' -& *.^ She married the late Oliver McCIattie, son of the late Ed and a 4 Ella McCIattie on January 15, They later moved to I gusta on Pikes Alley, where she also attended at First New Hope ; Baptist Church, near her home. To this union two children were,born, James and Sadie. They both preceded her in deathv -4 loved her family dearly and quickly took on the role of mam her grandchildren after the death of her daughter. She w H/very devoted to her family. They all loved their Mama and ofte: pi said they knew no difference in her and their own mother.
3 Mrs. McClattie was employed in her earlier years.by a family we knew as Mr. Red s. Mrs. McClattie was also employed for many years with King Mill. Although she did not have her own transportation, she earned perfect attendance. She retired at the age of 63, after, 23 dedicated years of service..& Soon after retiring, Mrs. "McClattie and her husband began to fjish regularly. She also was an avid gardener. She g ew the most beautifuljflowers and received raves about them. " ^ I lancy was a loving and caring lady. She wawoved and deep respected by all who ever met and knew her. She loved her friend and neighbors, and opened her doors to anyone who needed help. Mrs. Nancy understood life as well as death, and spoke many times ajout being so thankful td God forgiving her a life of longevity She loved vibrant colors and^said, "anything dead ought to b buried." She was a sharp dresser. She loved the very be^t of ev erything and believed in providing the best forfher grandchil dren the same way. That is the way she lived her life.$. full of giving spirit! She had an amazingly sharp mind and a kieen sen of humor.,-- :. ^, 4.
