1 CONCERT SEASON 2017/2018
2 2017/2018 AT A GLANCE Thu 28 th Sep pm p1 LUX AETERNA Thu 26 th Oct pm p2 JOHN RUTTER CONDUCTS FAURÉ'S REQUIEM W WELCOME elcome to The Bach Choir's 142nd season of concerts, in which we explore the theme of darkness into light. Westminster Cathedral is the ideal venue for our opening concert Lux Aeterna on 28th September, featuring music for choir and organ by Rachmaninov, Howells, Tippett and others an opportunity for you to hear some of the music that we take on tour to the Netherlands in the first week of October. The Bach Choir is always in demand at Christmas, and I am delighted that this year's festive performances include the Choir's own celebration in the Cadogan Hall on 22nd December in which we hope to feature the winning carol in a new competition launching this autumn. In 2018 we have three performances in the Royal Festival Hall in which I hope there is something for all, from Haydn's Nelson Mass and Bach's St Matthew Passion to Esenvald's beautiful Passion and Resurrection and Prokofiev's captivating Alexander Nevsky, originally conceived as the soundtrack for the 1938 film of the same name. I look forward very much to sharing some of this wonderful music with you.
