1 October Newsletter From Fred Douglas Society Fall Back into Autumn Wow! The summer months really flew by this year at Fred Douglas Lodge! It's hard to believe that our last newsletter came out in the spring. So much has happened since then! Residents, tenants and staff enjoyed the wonderful weather over the past few months. We enjoyed the Annual BBQ & Car Show in June, Canada Day celebrations in July, outings to Folklorama in August and the Apple & Corn Fest with Elvis in September! 1

2 Visiting Fred Douglas Lodge? Please remember to wash your hands with warm water and soap or use a hand sanitizer! Hand hygiene is one of the single most important ways to stop the spread of infection! Announcement - Assistant Director of Care We're pleased to announce that Stephanie Rakar will be joining the FDL team as Assistant Director of Care. Stephanie comes to us from Oakview Personal Care Home where she managed a special needs unit. She has a Master's degree in education as well as a Baccalaureate in Nursing. As ADOC, Stephanie will work alongside the Director of Care and will be involved in implementing and maintaining quality initiatives, providing clinical support to the nursing team. Please help us welcome Stephanie into our family! 2nd Annual Art Club Show Residents showed off their artistic skills when the Second Annual Art Show was held this past May. The Art Club boasts members from all units at the Lodge and is coordinated by recreation workers Tatiana Morcilla and Stephanie Corby. 2
