Torrance Memorial was also recognized as high performing in the following specialties, procedures and conditions: heart failure, colon cancer, hip replacement, knee replacement, lung cancer and urology. U.S. News evaluates nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide, said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis at U.S. News. A hospital that emerged from our analysis as one of the best has much to be proud of. For the rankings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. In the 16 specialty areas, 152 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals as high performing across multiple areas of care. For nearly three decades, we ve strived to make hospital quality more transparent to health care consumers nationwide, said Harder. "By providing the most comprehensive data available, we hope to give patients the information they need to find the best care across a range of specialties. The U.S. News methodologies include risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety, quality of nursing care and other care-related indicators. 2 Flu Season: Influenza/Flu Vaccination It is that time of year again and we are approaching the start of the flu season which is October 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018 and HERE's WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW. An influenza/flu vaccination is required by November 1, If you have not been vaccinated and provided Medical Staff Services with this documentation by November 1, 2017, you must wear a mask when you are on the Medical Center premises. We are offering vaccination clinics at Torrance Memorial Medical Center starting September 28th (see attached). Vaccinations may also be offered at Medical Staff meetings (this will be included in meeting invite). In addition, when clinics are not in session, vaccinations can be obtained in the Employee Health Department. Employee Health is located at the Thelma McMillen Center, 3333 Skypark Drive, Suite 200, Torrance, CA and their hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 12:00 Noon and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please keep a copy of the vaccination documentation given to you by Employee Health. If you receive the vaccination elsewhere, please remember to obtain and keep written documentation and provide this written documentation to the Medical Staff Services Department as soon as possible and obtain a flu sticker for your ID badge. You can provide elsewhere documentation by hand delivery, by scan/ to Diana.Velasquez@tmmc.com or by fax to If you will be declining the vaccination, you will be required to wear a mask when you are at the Medical Center from November 1, 2017 until March 31, You must also complete a Declination Form (please select a reason from the options). Please contact the Medical Staff Services Department at for a Declination Form or with questions.
