4 LEARNING OBJECTIVES The Picky Eater You will be able to design appropriate medical evaluation for feeding issues and counsel families on ways to prevent restricted eating and to treat sensory feeding issues. Sleeping Problems or the Importance of Sound Sleep You will be able to incorporate primary prevention strategies to reduce sleep problems and to counsel families on how to solve common sleep problems including sleep associations, nighttime feeding, and other issues. Media and the Developing Brain and Body You will be oriented to research on how media use affects brain development, behavior and physical health of children. You will be able to promote smart and safe media use for families, and recognize and address problematic media use in children. From Helpless to Helpful: How to effectively guide parents on managing their child s challenging behaviors. You will be able to assess the family structure, developmental phase and upcoming life transitions; to effectively educate parents on how to manage challenging behaviors in their children with difficult temperaments; increase parental readiness for change in getting positive outcomes, set developmental outcomes with parents for their children so that success can be determined.
