These lines of questions are part of the legal/investigative strategy employed by attorneys, investigators and law enforcement personnel. The focus of this 8-hour track is on the form and function of these lines of questioning, and how to interpret each in a manner that preserves the legal/ investigative strategy associated with each. Types of questions that emerge, how to recognize both the form and function, as well as ways to mark question forms to elicit appropriate responses, will be the focus of inquiry and practice. Come prepared for extensive hands-on

Students achieve this goal by learning the aspects of ASL storytelling including: role shift, eye gaze, characterizations, use of classifiers along with the general aspects of how to build a story in American Sign Language. Students rarely have the opportunity to tell these stories in ASL. The goal of this module is to gain these pertinent skills to self monitor for overall skill enhancement and a deeper understanding of ASL storytelling in all its aspects. The aim of fluency building for educational interpreters who work with young Deaf and hard of hearing children is to be clear, accurate and fluid. This will benefit the student seeking overall improvement of expressive ASL skills from introductory to advanced users of ASL. D. Evon Black Presents..., Evon Black, M.S.Ed. 8 Politically Incorrect with Ryan D. Long Saturday, April 2, 2005 Based on the popular and somewhat controversial cable and network favorite, "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher," Saturday night's event examines current political and pop-culture issues from a Deaf person's point RYAN D. LONG of view. "Politically Incorrect with Ryan Long" showcases a four-member Deaf panel, moderated by Ryan Long, dissecting today's headlines and water-cooler discussions. The War in Iraq, the FCC crackdown on indecency, terrorism/counter-terrorism, stem-cell research, the influence of the media - there are a few of the topics to be debated in this unconventional roundtable. Spend the first part of the evening viewing complex ASL vocabulary, discourse features and prosodic elements. Following a question and answer period, get in on the action when the panel members become moderators and audience members become participants. Apply the vocabulary, discourse features and prosodic elements previously observed as you roll-up your sleeves and lock horns. You may laugh - you may cry - you may fume - you may convert...only one thing is certain...you will learn! Ryan D. Long was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Darnestown, MD. He became profoundly deaf at the age of two as a result of spinal meningitis. Mr. Long attended public schools from grades K through 12 where a sign language interpreter was provided for most classes. Next, he attended the Miami University of Ohio and received his Bachelors in Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs with two minors; one in East Asian Studies specializing in China and another in Naval Science courtesy of the US Navy civilian ROTC program. As a sophomore, Mr. Long completed basic flight training and received his Private Pilot's License. Mr. Long then continued his education at the American University where he received a Masters in International Relations with a concentration in US Foreign Policy. In 2000, Mr. Long entered the federal service, serving as an analyst in the Department of Defense. He specialized in providing operational support to U.S. military activities. Among others, he was directly involved in OPERATONS NOBLE EAGLE, ENDURING FREEDOM - AFGHANISTAN, and IRAQI FREEDOM. In July 2003, Mr. Long became a Team Lead in the Department of Defense's newly founded Task Force for Combating Terrorism. He currently serves as a Counterterrorism Officer working in the Joint Staff. Presently, Mr. Long is attending the United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, VA as one of the few civilian students selected to attend this highly renowned professional military school. In June 2005, he will receive a second Masters in Military Studies. Mr. Long is married and lives in southern Maryland where he and his wife enjoy boating and flying whenever possible.
