1 December 2015 Newsletter Employee of the Month Brandon Collins Brandon has been working at the center as an EVS Associate for a little over two months. Brandon is a hard working team member and always has a nice word to say to anyone coming into the center or who he meets throughout the day. Brandon's hard work and dedication are evident to the members and he is a true asset to the Virtua Center for HealthFitness. Let's take a second to get to know Brandon a little bit more. 1. How long have you been working at the center? I have been working at the center for 2 months. 2. What is your favorite: TV Show - Shark Tank
2 Book - Anything that will teach me something that I can use in my life. 3. What do you like to do in your spare time? I like to go to the gym, meditate and hand out with close friends. 4. What is your favorite food? Steak and Eggs is my favorite! 5. What famous person would you like to meet and why? Warren Buffett because I would like to sit down with him and ask him questions on his extensive background and pick his brain. It would be cool to sit and chat with him over some coffee. 6. What do you like the most about working at the center? I really like how the center is such a positive environment and how nice everyone is to talk to and interact with. Everyone seems genuinely joyful and that makes a huge difference in the workday and allows me to enjoy my job even more. So the next time you are at the center; say hello to Brandon! Fitness Corner The Center for Athletic Performance (CAP) "Champions are made in the off season" The Center for Athletic Performance (CAP) is a sport-specific training program designed to provide complete strength and conditioning for athletes. Using various modalities, CAP focuses on all aspects of sports performance. The CAP Program includes: Assessment - Tests all components of fitness to identify weaknesses and design an effective routine that gets results. Training - High intensity sessions include a warm-up and cool-down. Injury prevention and safety are high priority. - Core and Balance - Speed and Agility - Strength and Power Consultation - One-on-one discussions include goal setting, performance, time
3 management, and suggestions for improvement. Additional CAP services: Team and Group Training Yogletes Drop-In Sessions Sports Nutrition Recovery Spa Services Parent Fitness Program For more information contact Kristen Przybylski at or Next Steps Fitness programs for individuals transitioning from or managing a medical condition or needing additional support to improve their level of physical activity. Our medically based approach: Individualized exercise plans are based on current fitness ability and created to help achieve goals Exercise plans address special instructions from the patient's physician or health care provider if needed Fitness specialists have a health or fitness-related degree and are nationally certified 8 week program is only $99! For more information contact Kristen Przybylski at or kprzybylski@virtua.org Fitness Reminders Fitness Floor Guidelines: Please, no cell phone use while exercising on fitness equipment; we ask that you step away from the exercise area and use designated lounge areas for cell phone use. Wear proper athletic shoes and clothing.
4 Please avoid dropping weights and dumbbells on the floor. Re-rack weights and return all other equipment to its proper location. Wipe down equipment when finished. Gym wipes are provided throughout the fitness floor. Do Not bring food onto the fitness floor. All drinks must be in a "sport" or screw top bottle. Limit time on cardio equipment to 30 minutes when members are waiting. Refrain from bringing gym bags and coats to the fitness floor. Please store all personal items in the locker rooms. Please do not rest on fitness equipment between sets when others are waiting. Allow other members to "work in" with you. USAT ParaTriathlon Camp at Virtua Center for HealthFitness On Saturday, November 14th and Sunday, November 15th, Virtua Sports Medicine hosted a USA Triathlon Para-triathlete Camp at the Virtua Center for HealthFitness in Washington Township. 23 Athletes and 5 coaches, all with varying disabilities from all over the Mid-Atlantic States attended this 2 day camp with aspirations of competing in the 2016 Para-Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Regardless of whether the athlete had a prosthetic leg or was limited to a wheelchair, the camp's focus was on creating success, which does not always mean coming in first place. The weekend covered all aspects of a triathlon, from swimming with adaptive flotation devices, racing in a specially designed wheelchair or hand-cycle, or running with prosthetic limbs. "It was truly inspirational to watch these athletes perform at such a high level. It gives you a new perspective on what we consider our barriers that we face every day." Paul

6 Aquatic Lane Shower Before Swimming Policy
7 The Gloucester County Department of Health mandates that a soap and water shower is required prior to entering into any body of water. This allows us to operate the pools at the optimum level and does not require frequent maintenance. Swimmers who do not shower before swimming, increase the pools chances of being shut down in order to return to those optimum levels. We appreciate your cooperation with this policy in order to ensure a clean pool environment for all users, as well as to assist us in maintaining a proper operation of our pool area. Family Swim Hours As a reminder, the family swim hours are set throughout the week. See below for the time schedule: Hours: Monday- Friday 3:30pm-6:00pm Saturday: 12:00pm-5:30pm Sunday: 12:00pm-5:30pm Useful Pool Reminders Cell phones are prohibited. No cameras are permitted on the pool deck unless they have been approved by the Virtua Center for HealthFitness Management Lightning Policy - Virtua centers require the immediate closure of all pools in the event of lightning/thunder. The pools will remain closed for 30-minutes following the last episode of lightning or thunder. Kids in Motion Playground
