By analysing video footage of this skill and combining the knowledge from Core 2-Body in Motion, students will be able to the elements of a highly skilled and successful athlete. TASK RUBRIC In your answer you will be assessed on how well you: Examine perceptions of health by exploring questions such as: - how might an individual s perception of health affect their behaviour and well-being? - How healthy am I? How healthy do other people think I am? How healthy do I think other people are? Determine the degree to which perceptions of health are socially constructed OUTCOMES BEING ASSESSED, GENERAL CAPABILITIES & CROSS CURRICULUM PRIORITIES Outcomes listed by the number and description. P7 P8 P9 Explains how body systems influence the way the body moves Describes the components of physical fitness and explains how they are monitored Describes biomechanical factors that influence the efficiency of the body in motion Page 1
2 THE TASK ASSESSMENT 2 : Research Task Students will need to research and choose a video of an athletic event where the performance is of high quality and successful. A link should be included or embedded into your response below. Examples of this are but not limited to: - Hammer throw, javelin, high jump, discus, long jump. You must show your teacher your choice of video for approval before proceeding The video analysis should address the following areas: - Biomechanical principles - Movement terms - Develop fitness tests for this athlete - Develop types of training for this athlete PART One - Joint Actions (5 marks) Through analysing your chosen video of an athletic event, students will need to identify the bones involved, joints, joint actions and muscles (agonist/antagonist ) for specific body parts involved in the athletic event. Students should use diagrams or visual stimulus to aide the accuracy of the identifications. Here is a template table you may want to utilise for this part. Video Analysis PART Two - Types of Training (5 marks) Describe the type of training that would benefit an athlete preparing for this event. PART Three- Fitness Testing Procedures (10 marks) Explain one fitness testing procedure that could be used to monitor improvement of the athlete involved in the event. PART Four- Biomechanical factors (10 marks) Through your analysis, explain how the biomechanical features of the athletic event underpin the success of the movement and/or performance. You should include at least 3 biomechanical features. Page 2
